I'll say Troy but only because he was in my era. Just not old enough to type knowledgeably about Roger.

Troy is a more talented passer I will say that much.

There is no telling what Aikman could've done in a wide open system.

It's Mr. Staubach for me.

He is the reason I became a Cowboys fan. I remember watching a MNF game when I was a very very young kid with my Dad. We watched Mr. Staubach lead his team to an amazing comeback victory. My Dad went nuts! Cheering as they won the game. The way I looked up to my Dad, and seeing his reaction, I just figured there was something amazing about that QB and especially that team with The Star on the helmet. I was hooked after that.

But the real reason I think Mr. Staubach is the greatest Cowboy of all-time is because every time I get frustrated with the way this team has been goin over the past few years all I have to do is remember those days when Mr. Staubach was our starting QB...

Roger was amazing. I wasn't old enough to watch him live. But watching film on him is unbelievable. And also, his quote in regards to being compared to Joe Namath is awesome.

Roger Staubach made the Cowboys America's team. He was a hero on and off the field. Until he came along they were "next year's champions". The Cowboys wore white, and a Star, and Roger was a hero in a time of media produced anti-heroes in this country.

To take nothing from Troy, Roger was the ultimate competitor who won with class. And when he lost, he lost with class. Troy was ice, Roger was fire. Polar opposites except for their abilities to play football. As a Cowboy fan from way back, I could not be prouder of either of them, but given a choice, I take Roger. Roger was Troy's ability with Michael Irvin's leadership.

I love both of them and, as someone said above, you can't go wrong with either of them.

That said, if I had to choose one over the other I would go with Roger.

Troy doesn't always get full credit for his passing ability because his teams ran the ball so consistently and so well with Emmitt back there. I believe he would have put up absolutely scary numbers in a pass heavy offensive scheme.

Roger just had something different though. His team knew they were never out of it with Roger at the helm because of his refusal to lose. He was a great, great QB.

That said, Troy would not have fared as well in Rogers system and vice versa.

Both would have still been great, but each seemed to be born to do what they did, the way they did it.

As a young Canadian kid in the 70's, I fell in love with the class and greatness of the Cowboys. There was ONE reason why I fell for this team, and that is Mr. Roger Staubach. Imagine how high he'd be held if the Steelers also werent as great at that same time.

Let me also say, that Mr. staubach introduced me, a young Canadian boy, and who knows how many others around the world to American football. But, his mark was much bigger than just football. This team , lead by Staubach, showed ths Canuck the greatness that was America itself.

I fell hoplessly in love with Dallas and was absolutely awestruck by the greatness that was America . Dallas was a microcosm of America.

Very few athletes or people in general can achieve this. God Bless you Roger.

At the end of his career when they loosened the rules for passing, he had his most productive year. At age 39. He might have had his greatest game against the Skins in the last game of that season. Imagine him having a full career with those rules. Imagine him not loosing those years to the military.

Roger was the ultimate winner.

I will go with Roger. Captain Comeback was a well earned nickname. With Roger, I as a fan knew we always had a chance to win any game no matter the score. While Troy was good and accurate I never felt he could come back and secure a win on any given Sunday when playing from behind. Roger was special, the likes we will never see again.

It's a tough question, but if you really have to choose....

I would go with Roger.

Troy will always be great, but invariably his time on the team will not be measured by himself as a sole player, but rather the period of time in Cowboys history when (3) men dominated the game and led the NFL with arguably the best team the league has ever known.

Roger came to the NFL late and helped not only develop the team and its enduring reputation, but also the rising popularity of the league.

Of all the Cowboy QBs and their tenures Roger's was known for one thing in my opinion - there was only Roger.

Where Troy had Michael and Emmitt to lean on when he was on the field, Roger, really only had Roger.

If you watch old games on NFL network or youtube videos and follow the flow of the games I felt Roger took over games at times.

The huddle relied on him and he answered the call. Not every QB does that and its the reason why teams are in the eternal search for a true franchise QB.

The mythology around Roger Staubach is unfortunately greater than Troy's, but it is well deserved.
