Too many needs to use both of their top picks for the OL/ Could see 1 early and perhaps 1 on day 3.
You see Green use the same technique that has led him to committing a high amount of penalties as well. It was more pronounced when he was starting at Tackle. The difference between the two lineman, Green knows how to use power, footwork and technique in the run game.
Yes.On a basic level is it fair to say Johnson better on pass protection, Green better on rush blocking?
Think they are waiting for prices to come down. Also, I think their cap space is more in that 18-19 rangeWe do have $22m....and that line needs work, our whole offense depends upon it.
Green has struggled with penalties especially as a Tackle.

Prospects aren't finished products, even in rd 1. Could be just a minor fix in their technique. Keep in mind, Green just turned 21, where Zion will be 23 at the start of the season.Killer for me.
Penalties is one of the biggest problem on the Cowboys, and they haven't gotten it fixed, what makes anyone think they can't fix penalties on players that aren't known for them in general, but can fix it on somebody who does have a pre-existing problem?
Have to go with Zion if that's the only 2 choices...
They have just over $15 million left after they accounted for LVE, Fowler, Hooker and Kearse.
Now they do get $10 million more post June 1. They also likely can save $3-4-5 million with a long term deal with
@Cowboyny - looks as if overthecap.com has updated with the Carlos Watkins contract they are factoring $12m left after draft and not counting La'al's $10m.
I imagine the Schulz situation will depend on whether we draft a TE in mid rounds who can step in 2023. It doesn't sound as if we're that interested and not sure if Schultz would accept in any case....though yep I'm sure it's the fall back option, if CAP was tight.
Pick the one with nastiest attitude. They need to put some mean on the line. All of the linemen should have Columbo’s approach to the game or maybe some of Erik Williams’ style of play. Defensive linemen should dread playing the Cowboys.Clearly the team has a huge hole at starting LG as they let Connor Williams walk, Collins released and McGovern failing as a starter. They will probably add some depth in fa, but they are hunting Guards in this year's draft.
If both Kenyon Green and Zion Johnson are available at 24, assuming no trade down is an option and they offer the most value on their board, who is your pick?
-Floor vs Ceiling? Zion may have the higher floor, but Green has the bigger, upside potential.
-Who possesses the best positional flex? Both have the versatility to play all 5 positions.
-Scheme versatility, can they play in both zone/man scheme? Yes
-Do they have the strength to anchor effectively, can they handle the bigger lineman? Yes
-Green is the better run blocker, where Zion is the better pass protector.
-Zion plays generally clean, where Green has struggled with penalties especially as a Tackle.
I truly believe we are splitting hairs with both prospects. Green just turning 21 and having success in the SEC has the edge from me, but wouldn't hate drafting Zion either.
The Cowboys usually have about 15 players with first round grades. There is a lot of very good players with second round grades. I wouldn’t be surprised if both of them had second round grades and they would be happy with either one of them.I believe the Cowboys will have 1st rd grades on both players, but probably will have Green higher. Their issues have been at LG/C playing against power players who collapse the pocket.
I’m leaning more towards trading down a few spots and grabbing an extra 3rd.
I’d think one of them is still available mid/late 20s.
Small thing but was reading a local article on BC pro day. They mentioned Zion had spent 2 years at JC and 3 years at BC. Meaning he is a slightly over age prospect. Add that he plays interior only. I wonder if he slides a little.
Watch the drills @ the combine....Zion was clearly the smoother looking athlete. Can't go wrong with either. Flip a coin.
I dont judge based solely on drills. Their game tape is very similar.Watch the drills @ the combine....Zion was clearly the smoother looking athlete.
