The Guard Rotation?

Not only did Berny and Waters rotate at RG, but Berny started the second half at LG. Was this planned, or was Leary hurt/ineffective? If it was planned, I sort of like it. Keep them all fresh. I have been critical of Berny, but he played a helluva game. In reviewing the tape, I think he was the most effective G. His block at LG sprung Demarco for his 50 yard run to start the second half. Thoughts?

I don't particularly like it. I'd much rather 5 guys gel and work together than subbing people in and out just for the sake of doing so.

Little surprised Waters didn't get more time in. If he doesn't start next week, I might wonder if he just hasn't been looking that great in practice.

Waters did not play particularly well. He got blown up at the goalline on Murray's second down and goal at the 2 (second redzone trip) and probably cost Murray the TD. He gave up a sack to Kendall Langford. And he got a holding penalty on first drive of the second half when we were in the red zone. He did some good things as well. But he still needs some time to round into shape, and fortunately, Berny had a good game.

Tackle rotation worked last year.

the last 4 games of the year the offensive line played good, thats when the tackle rotation started so it did work out

Cowboys played from behind in every game last year including the last 4 games in 2012. U & I have a different definition of good.

What do you mean worked? The OL was awful. If by worked you mean the combination of Free and Parnell were better than horrid but probably not as good as what we've been seeing lately then yeah, it "worked".

This OL is so much better than last season. Don't take my word for it, Take Romos.

I agree it is much better but the oline the last 4 games of last season wasn't bad at all, and improved once the rotation with the tackles started, plus I got a feeling Free's drastic improvement this season isn't a coincidence he worked hard in the offseason to avoid the rotation again or possibly losing his job flat out so I view that rotation as a benefit for this season as well.

I don't like the G rotation as much though

This OL hasn't yet developed full familiarity with one another and it'll likely take until around midseason before anything resembling consistency becomes a staple there. The game today was a decent breakthrough into a better level of play. Let's see if they can continue to open the holes for Murray vs. San Diego. Baby steps.

Both our OL and our DL are playing at a high level, with much-maligned players taking significant snaps.

Not really.

You must have an unrealistically high bar for in-season improvement. The Cowboys were able to improve their RT play by doing something unconventional. I would say it was a success in that regard.

yep the 2nd down play comes to mind. he got blown up on that play and allowed the d tackle to clip murray before scoring....should have had 7 there.

You rotate your G's when you don't really have any. Whenever the Cowboys upgrade those positions you won't see any rotation.
