Holyfield beat Tyson like an unwanted step child .He put a Tyson beat down on Tyson
Pre prison and post prison fighters were different. He wasnt as potent after prison.

However, you do need to take his whole career into account to judge him fairly. Especially with guys like Forman and Holmes putting in good work well into their 40's

He was a well discipled athlete. I don't know if Tyson wasnt, but he seemed about 85% of himself after prison.

I remember watching Tyson/ Rudduck II as a kid and thinking one of these guys could die lol. I watched a rebroadcast a few years, and Rudduck could have very well laid him out at certain points of that fight

Tyson the young Tyson was great at avoiding the big hits . But he made very bad life decisions And it changed him for the worse and he caused it.

NO doubt he screwed up but that prison thing was a frame up. The little bit*** even admitted it years later.

Tyson after Gus died was not the same. He really needed a strong father figure and once Gus was gone he hit the skids.

Final four

Tyson Fury
Muhammad Ali
Mike Tyson
Lennox Lewis

Marciano just too small
It is really unfair to compare the super heavyweights with the heavyweights of the past. Big George Foreman is the only heavyweight that was great in both eras. The fact that he regained the championship at 45 is one of the most impressive things in all of sports IMO. I saw Don Turner , the trainer that knew Marciano, say that Rocky would do better against some of the big guys than what people expects.

Teddy Atlas made one of the best observations about Tyson when he said that Tyson always looked for a way out when he couldn’t bully and intimidate the opposing fighter. Tyson lost everything fight against top fighters.

I agree that Tyson had 2 very different chapters of his career. Young Tyson in his prime was a beast and one of the best I've ever seen. Guy was a monster.

Dang, I miss good boxing. Seems like it's all about the UFC these days. I'm really not that into those.

That was later Tyson. Tyson prior to Gus dying was nothing like that. I remember Michael Spinks desperately looking for a place to take a dive. First time I had ever seen a fighter so terrified. THAT was Tyson in his prime.

SEMI FINALS

1- Muhamaad Ali
5- George Foreman

Winner-ALI
Results- Foreman lost to an 30 something Ali in Rumble in the Jungle. A Ali in his prime would even be sharper. Ali in 8 KO

2- Mike Tyson
3- Lennox Lewis

Winner- Tyson
-Result- Lewis got a older more troubled Tyson. Tyson in his youth was devastating. Lewis still makes this a good fight but a younger meaner Tyson would be hard to stop. Tyson in 10 KO-

One of the reasons Ali was so great was that he almost always was able to get into the head of the opponent. No one was better at that.
