The Herd - Rating Dak

Would touchdowns scored be the ultimate measure for "production"? I mean highest score wins, right?

If so, Prescott outpaces Wentz 57-51. Would lack of turnovers be another one? If so, Prescott outpaces Wentz 17-21.

Any list that ranks Wentz ahead of Prescott is obviously a wrong one. As has been proven here.

Great post

Can you imagine this place WHEN Dak signs a contract extension for $20M+ per season 2019? :popcorn:A meltdown like no other :lmao:

Romo, God love him, was talented but often came up small in the big spot. We could argue whether or not that opportunity would have been there without Romo. Passing stats me nothing to me because the game has changed. Aikman and Staubach did not have Romo's stats but they were miles better. I do know this - Dak has had a first 2 seasons that could compared favorably to any quarterback.
So if Daks stats continue without more team success you’ll be as supportive most likely?

How am I or you or anyone to know? What I do know is that Dak has been a revelation in his 2 seasons in Dallas. I also know a lot of people like Jimmy G despite the fact his resume is paper thin. Time will tell.
That’s what we do here in an opinion driven forum . We speculate . Play Monday morning QB.

I’m not sure all Cowboy fans can be unbiased about Dak?

That's tough to say right now when Dak wins at a 69% clip (22-10) in his first two seasons.

But somehow that doesn't buy him a break with some people either.

we saw what Dak is in year 1. He is a QB that must have a supporting cast to protect him and go get the ball. Last year,he lacked both at times. We saw what happened to Troy Aikman after Irvin retired and Novacek. He was not the same guy
. Good players help GOOD PLAYERS be great. Maybe Dak wont be confused with Elway or Rodgers,Marino...but he's pretty danged good. He's basically Russell Wilson with size. I will take that anyday of the week.

Remember Stephen said like Troy, he's a system QB. Meaning he's mentally structured to run a play EXACTLY as it drawn in the playbook. Success depends on EVERY player doing their job. It's no coincidence route running has been the key offseason phrase among WRs.

I'll give you a hint:

Bring up the fact that Dak Prescott's two year numbers are far superior to Carson Wentz's and see what kind of a reaction you get.
You are well aware that numbers do not tell the whole story. And they are not far superior.

Are you suggesting that if the 2016 draft was re-done, that there are GMs out there that would rank Dak Prescott higher than Wentz on their boards? That’s all this discussion has been about.

If it’s another disapointing era like with Romo who most enjoyed watching him perform which is fine.

Hey , I enjoyed the early years with Merideth and he was booed into an early retirement after losing back to back NFL titles.

See this is where stats can often be misrepresented or interpreted .

All it takes is an unbiased keen eye to see. My hunch is like many fan bases they are more starry eyed for their own kids.

Given Dak’s contract, it’s not crazy to think that a few GM’s might take him for that reason alone. But overall, I’m pretty sure coaches/GMs would almost unanimously take Garappolo. Which makes sense, he’s played well so far and was a more highly regarded prospect. Additionally, many coaches and GMs have both on and off the record been skeptical of Dak, and Dak turning into a bottom 5 QB when his perfect cocoon of conditions was breached likely did nothing to sway them.
Garoppolo has only started 7 games. Dak is more established yet some fans just can't give the kid any credit.

I remember everyone blaming Dak's performance last season on the fact that there is "more tape" and defenses have him figured out.
Well, isn't Jimmy in the same boat?

You are well aware of that numbers do not tell the whole story.

It tells a story that you don't want you hear. There's no better truth than those facts and those numbers. Anything else is an excuse.

And they are not far superior.

6 more touchdowns scored, 4 less turnovers committed. That looks far superior to me.

I'm stating what has factually happened. Real life, not some baseless, unsupportable speculation.

I'm showing the facts on the subject being discussed. Any list that has Wentz listed above a player who has clearly outproduced him is a flawed list. I don't care who's list it is.

How so? Do the work of showing grounds for your own continued misinterpretation.

My "hunch" is that you don't know what you're talking about and want to argue for the sake of argument.

Try to dispute the facts with facts of your own. Do the work. Instead of noise.

I think some fans look at the team's success compared to others in regard to QB's. Instead of what they actually did, 9-7 looks horrible compared to winning the Superbowl.
