One lucky play has changed the dynamics of our postseason. Without it, we lose, with little or no chance to win the division and no home playoff games. But here we are, divisional champs and two wins away from the NFCCG.

Luck? What luck? Cowboys beat them fair and square with hard work and effort. Quit making excuses for the Cowboys. They earned the NFC East title. They are the best team in the East. No luck involved. Sheesh.

It would have been interesting had the right player been reported or announced by the officials.

Since the Cowboys did not know #68 was running a route, it was an easy catch since there was no reason to cover him.

If the Lions had not tried to confuse the defense and followed procedures, they could have actually won the game had they converted it.
And let’s not forget they had 2 additional tries at it even after the “controversial “ call. They should have kicked the extra point.

I don't know what you would call all the Lions and media whining about the situation, but to me it sure sounds like they are saying a penalty shouldn't have been called since they are saying the Lions were screwed and ignoring the fact that Cowboys covered the wrong guy because of the situation. Maybe we're interpreting that differently.
People who say the Lions got screwed are taking to position that the ref messed up in announcing 70 instead of 68. They aren’t saying the 2 points should have counted even though it unfolded like it did. Everyone understands that by announcing 70, 68 couldn’t catch a pass and the refs had no choice but to enforce the penalty. Their position is based solely on the ref not interpreting their deceptive scheme correctly and understanding that 68 was the intended eligible player.

But if 68 had been called eligible, he would have been covered. There was an entire billboard in Detroit that said "68 was eligible" or along those lines is what I'm saying. All I have heard about the matter is people saying Decker checked in as eligible... well that doesn't explain why he was uncovered and converted the 2 pointer. Everybody is taking the side that Detroit was screwed and not noting the fact that Dallas was by the fact the refs said 70 and that's why they left 68 uncovered.

Its a good point....that may not have been automatic had proper reporting procedures been followed.

Geeezzzz, we've already gone over this. Truth is, Lion's tried to pull some BS, and for no apparent reason. Makes no sense what they tried to do.

Yeah, I thought it was risky on the first call as it sent a message to the Lions' defense that Campbell did not trust them.

Once the penalty happened, it was a ridiculous call to try it again since a tie was right there waiting for them.

Well you are talking about Detroit fans and Dallas haters. Of course they are going to view the play through those lenses. The play was carefully crafted to be deceptive and legal but 68 had to be announced as eligible. Certainly, Lewis would have covered 68 had he been announced but the “Lions got screwed” people only see that they initially converted the two points and it was taken away by the refs calling a penalty that was only a penalty because they announced the wrong player. Nothing else matters to them. 68 caught it and the Lions should have 21 points and a W. People who are objective understand that whatever actually happened with the ref and those 3 OL, it certainly was not clear that 68 was eligible. To the ref it was clear that 70 was eligible and that’s why he announced him. Everything from their perspective is based on believing that 68 did in fact report and made it clear but the ref for some reason announced 70 instead. That argument never made sense to me. It’s obvious that 68 was being coy so as to not alert Dallas and ending up not making it clear to the ref. But to my original point, no one is saying the refs shouldn’t have called the penalty. They are saying the ref announced the wrong player, either by mistake or on purpose thus making a legal play that succeeded a penalty.

It's kind of amazing how many people are overlooking that fact. If no penalty had been called, like so many people are saying should have happened, the Cowboys were deceived by the refs giving them false information.... Think about that...
Would have taken the ref conspiracy to a whole nother level !!!
Lol

As dumb and arrogant as Campbell is, I'm sure he wishes he had kicked the extra point after the second failed attempt at that 2-point conversion, especially after his team flat-out dominated the Cowboy's defense on their last possession. HCs get fired for bone headed decisions like the one he made.................... Thanks Dan!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, keep saying that to yourself.
But we all know the truth.
yes we all know the truth.
one you are not a cowboys fan
two, and clearly the Lions shouldn't even gotten a chance since a blatant tripping penalty on hutchinson was blamed on hendershot, so instead of 15 for dallas, it was 15 gifted to Detroit. yeah, but alcoholics like you have memory of a fly.

like I said we know the truth. you are clueless. now go cry in your whiskey
