The importance of good defense

I'm rather late to this thread but the OP and ksk's follow up should be the top war room advice/draft day guidebook given to the Jones clan if they ever truly expect to compete for trophies again.

I think it doesn’t translate to the field because he doesn't like football; he's probably not interested in working hard at something he doesn't love. I don't think his heart/head is in it. For that reason, I don't think he'll ever work out.
I tend to agree. Good football players have to love it

This is so true. Mazi wasn't very good in college. Graham is a totally different animal. Grant also but I am slightly less sold on him.
Sure, but they play different positions. The NT and UT positions are so different that's it's like comparing a RB to WR.

I think you’d have a tough time convincing either of the Jones pair to take a DT top 10 anyway. They don’t respect the position. It’s played on rotation so they don’t want to spend on it.

They’ve tried everything….(low picks, high picks, mid picks, cheap free agents, UDFA, older dudes)….except spend for a proven mid to higher end free agent.

I PROMISE they consider the position well invested in and not an issue due to Osa contract and the first round investment in Mazi. Nevermind facts and what’s in front of your eyes, they expect an ROI. That’s not at all how it works but that’s what they are used to getting in life, and they run the team that way.
I don't think it's even about respect, I think they are too dumb. They don't understand how important the DT position is on D. IMO, it is THE most important position on D. No other position affects the D the way the DTs do.
