He sold his soul for those 3 wins and now we are paying for it...
Nah, his own arrogance killed us.

He was too much of a vain egomaniac to share the spotlight with a quality coach/GM like Johnson.

If Jerry wasn't such a selfish loser consumed with making himself look like a football guy, we'd probably have had much more success the last 25 years.

It’s fascinating, that at 82, his last HC hire might be Brian Schottenheimer of all people. At least go out with a bang. This hire will taint what is left of his legacy
There sadly is no legacy left to taint.
29 straight years of no meaningful success will do that.
It could have been so different if he just would have hired quality GMs and did not interfere.
Instead we have become the NFC version of the Browns.

He wasn't smart enough to realize Jimmy Johnson built those SB teams. He mistakenly thought anyone with money could build a championship team. Foolish

Any of you old timers remember the band called The Knack, first album was huge, gigantic. Even talk of the next Beatles. Everything afterwards flopped big time

I've said for years, If you own the most valuable company in the world, you hire the best CEO's to run and maintain it. since Jimmy we have hired some of the most inept people imaginable.

theres no reason we shouldn't have the best coach running this team period.
And he lucked out on Jimmy. He had no clue what kind of pro coach he would be. He just happened to know him (and not even that well).

And the reality is that the majority of the team in ‘95 already had one or two rings from ‘92 and/or ‘93 when we won SBs with Jimmy. But oh yeah, Jerry and Barry did it their way.

No, Jerrys way is what brought us 6-10 just 2 yrs later and no SB or NFCG in nearly 30 years.
Did anyone truly believe those winning ways were going to last. With FA and players and coaches leaving, team picked apart. There were lean years coming down the road. It happens to all teams. But for some reason only Dallas fans feel think it only happens to them. Hence 30 years of whining.

No of course they weren't going to last..

But did anyone think we would go 3 decades without doing something.. anything?"

I honestly believe that the more Stephen is involved, the worse Jerry's legacy gets.

Obviously, they're both buffoons when it comes to building a football team, but Jerry at least had some nuts at one point to try for greatness
I mean Jerry did infamously did say he was "all in" then did a 180, maybe you are right about Cap boy

The problem with immediate success is that it creates a perception that a person it smart and successful at everything they do.

In professional sports, there is a lot of luck that no one ever considers. Drafting the right players at the right time, hiring the right coach for those players at the right time, signing the right free agents at the right time, avoiding key injuries, and many more smaller factors help decide a team's success.

Jerry continues to act like he knows best, but 28 years of futility prove otherwise. The team is more valuable now because every sports team is more valuable, not because of anything he has accomplished since the last Super Bowl win almost 29 years ago.

At this point, the Dallas Cowboys are nothing more than Jerry Jones' sandbox and we are just sitting on the benches to the side waiting for him to be done playing in it so we can actually have some fun again.

Until then, expect more of the same.
Looks like a bunch of cats have been using that sandbox.

It’s how it’s all unfolded and continued unfolding that justifies the continued criticism.

At least these other franchises with similar lack of success have the opportunity to finally get it right with a better GM, FO, etc.

There’s been one constant throughout this era . We are basically stuck in this perpetual dysfunctional funk. Not much hope it’s changing anytime in Jethro’s lifetime.

Can you imagine how this would have turned out if Jones roomed with Ken Hatfield on road games for Arkansas back in the 1960s instead of Jimmy Johnson?
The Cowboys franchise may have ceased to exist, if Jerry hadn't bought the team. The aura of the team ceased to exist within a decade after he bought it.
