Same thing the Packers and Eagles did. Good QBs get paid, period.

Difference is those teams didn't decide that's ALL they're going to do.


Love's CAP number over the next 5 years: (approx) $32MM, $36MM, $44MM, $75MM, $31MM (voidable year) Half of that last year goes into 2029, the other half in 2030 if they extend him.

Hurts: $22MM, $32MM, $42MM, $47MM, $97MM (voidable year)

Dak: $90MM, 67.7MM, $62 million, $72MM

Of course Hurts and Love on their first extensions. If they are extended with new contracts their CAP amounts will look more like Dak's. But in 4 ot 5 years the CAP will be 40% higher than it is today.

I think they paid Dak and CeeDee in order to "stay relevant."

There was never any thought about, "Now how do we surround those guys with more studs so we can compete for Super Bowls?"
I think they paid Dak and Ceedee so they can make excuses of not having to focus on the salary cap. It's their ticket in saying to the media that we don't have cap space.
