I took Karate too and since I was the biggest kid my age I always had to fight the older kids and I used to get my butt kicked.

I think every kid that grew up in the 80s took some sort of martial arts, its like our right of passage.

Martial arts were huge in the 80s. We watched karate kid, played karate champ in the arcade and watched bruce lee become a huge hero in the 80s.

Me personally, I took tae kwon do, I had to quit when I was almost 14 because it was becoming a 4 day a week thing and was getting in the way of baseball. I finished with a blue belt with a red stripe. A part of me wishes I stuck it out and got a black belt.....I am going to take again in the future when my son is a little older....

oh and this trailer makes this movie look unwatchable.

Martial Arts were much bigger in the 70s then in the 80s IMO. Bruce Lee was huge but he was huge in the 70s. He died in 1973, unless you are speaking of Brandon Lee, Son of Bruce Lee, who I believe was acting in the the 80s.

No I am talking about the 80s. IN my circle bruce lee exploded. Video games, movies magazines and other stuff. He seemed to be everywhere.

Brandon was in the crow which was great in the early 90s!

It was like he was being honored in the 80s. Martial arts seemingly influenced everything there for awhile.

I don't know if you remember the 70s Theebs but Bruce Lee was huge in the 70s. I remember more Chuck Norris in the 80s but I'm sure it was different just depending on where you might have been at the time.
