The Landry Shift

After watching Dak fail to get a defense to jump on 4th and short time and time again, they should use this shift to get the defense to jump offsides when its really needed.
You know, I watched the entire league, try to get the defense to jump off side when it’s fourth and whatever. Is there a team that actually goes for a consistently enough ,where they could get the defense to bite?

Yeah good point. Thus why it is not still used. Still like to see it tried once just to see what happens tho.
They would jump off side, just pointing to the offensive line, because they don’t know the rules lol

it's not a false start as long as (a) none of the linemen start out in a 3-point stance before shifting and (b) all 11 players reset for a full second before the snap.

That's also why it won't work. To do the shift, the guards can't start with a hand on the ground. The defense is unlikely to fall for it.
.....but the same refs will allow the Eagles interior lineman to be over the line of scrimmage because they can't see them during the rush push. Lol

Rodgers was the best at it and I've seen Allen and Mahomes have a lesser degree of success with it.

I guess every time I see us try it its always a waste of time unless we're looking for a delay of game penalty to help our punter

Dak might be better now that we don't use the "HEAR WE GO!" :muttley:

See......now you had to make it nasty.
Really just a joke, playboy. I'm not literally suggesting we get into the modern degeneracy thing, but it I bet I could make an AI mashup of the Landry Shift + Nate Thomas celebraion dance that'd be pretty funny against the Eagles-no doubt

I remember watching the shift in real time.

No matter what was going on in the game, when they showed Landry and Staubach on the sideline talking I knew everything was going to be alright.

I remember it like yesterday, it just kept everybody focused and on snap count
The real purpose of the famous up and down Landry shift was actually very practical.

It was a way to disguise movements of the backs and receivers. When the lineman moved up, the backs and/or receivers shifted and it was harder for defenses to see where everyone moved. That was the primary purpose.

Knew this a long time ago. It confused the defense before the snap. Landry was a genius.

Garrett, not at all like Jerra thought he might turn out to be. lol
Garrett's contribution was that wishbone set up they ran a half dozen times and then scrapped it. Dumbest thing ever.

Man, I love the The Landry Shift. They need to bring it up date and make it more of a pelvic thrust motion when it's divisional, like the Landry Shift meets Nate Thomas' celbration dance.
I think the 2025 version would include crotch grabbing or twerking or both.
