Jerrys alot of things, including arrogant and delusional, but he had a plan. He and Stephen knew last offseason after the GB loss. Now, that doesn't mean we will like the plan. Chances are it will be terrible, but lets wait and see.
His plan was to bring Mike back for the final year of his contract, do virtually nothing in the offseason, wait til the year was over to have talks with Mike while blocking the Bears and then agreeing to go a different direction.

Some plan, playing chess ya’ll

Not really on board yet with this Coach Prime in Dallas thing. Not at all. It makes a great story, but not persuaded even a little bit that he'd be successful... ie, like so many others, just persuaded that what relatively limited success he's had at Jackson State and now at Colorado is mostly a result of his name and ability to attract talent. That won't happen in NFL.

THAT said... dang, this was a great commercial, and it makes me chuckle imagining the re-make that could plausibly be somewhere in our near future... hehe...

I would love to be on the call when Jerry offers Moore the job and Moore turns him down.
We all know that aint gonna happen because Dallas is the only team in the league that looks at Opie and thinks "that is a natural born leader of men".

Opie aint turning down chit..................unlike Big Mike, Opie doesnt have any other teams on speed dial ready to send a jet to pick him up.

Ok I'll tell that to the other teams who have already asked to interview him. Also, logically you just said every other HC in the league is a natural born leader....Have to part ways with you there, not sure I'm running into a wall for Sirianni and some of the other drips.

Its called "courtesy interviews"..........Opie has done them in the past as well, but nobody has ever made an offer, gee, I wonder why?

As far as Sirianni goes, he has taken his team to the SB, so he apparently has convinced some players to follow him.

Agreed on Sirianni, but to pretend every guy that gets hired as an HC is a great "leader of men" is magical thinking.

Definitely, they started all that performance based contract nonsense and MM was like heck with that.
The Zone was “all in” on letting players and coaches having “prove it” years in 2024.

All this talk now is revisionist history.

As recently as week 4 of this season Eagles fans were clamoring for Siriani to be fired. Just as bad as Cowboy fans wanted McCarthy gone in week 3.

Winning, and winning *right now*,is about the only way a coach or QB escapes fickle fans.

Jerry has always been a below average GM that had some good drafts but generally failed in free agency. His biggest failure however has been his coaching selection since JJ which has led to our horrible run of mediocrity. Parcell was the only coach with any pulse or hint of control since JJ and Romo’s botched field goal cost him his best chance for a playoff run.

I fully expect jones to hire a yes man or someone like Deon that is all talk with no substance behind him. Heck his plan was to groom a high school coach to be the next coach.

This will not end well.

100% believable that they did not have a plan.
Sad to say, but this is likely true:

Jerry has somehow made the Cowboys Football team and it's core function of competing & winning games in the NFL- secondary to the point he assumed the HC will return with no contract.

You can't make this up.

For all the talk of Deion as the favorite to get the Cowboys job I noticed he has not scheduled an interview yet.

If ya'll don't think there is smoke to the Deion fire, I don't know what to tell ya. Irvin has confirmed it....Werder yesterday was told if it was offered he would accept it. You can't hype the fanbase up for Deion then go with Snot nose. There would be a mutiny.

I feel like this will happen and it will look like this:

Deion, HC
KW ***. HC/OC (assuming he doesn't get another HC gig)
Saleh DC

That would be amazing. Everything else checks out half the fanbase.
So you think hiring Deion would win the press conference and hype everyone up (it wouldn't hype me or plenty of others up)... What about actually being a top NFL coach and winning games? Why do you think Deion would be a good pro coach when recruiting doesn't matter and he can't portal in an entire new team like he did at CU? Just the shades, jewelry, and cowboy hat?
