The league has to address these routes

Just make it look like you got picked and throw some elbows and knees around.

A five yard penalty would be worth hammering some of those little gnomes.

That's my thought as well. Take a few 5 yd penalties throughout the game. I would actually coach my guys on 3 plays, not on a 3rd down, to obliterate the WR trying to pick you. Not as easy as it sounds but it would definitely be a coaching point that week.

If thats how the league is gonna play it then the cowboys in their best interest should practice/study the picks plays and try to incorporate them in...

Issue is that Patriots run pick even past the 5 yard limit. Then D will get called for illegal contact. I believe Belicheat figures either his pick plays will get a WR open or D will flagged. Either way he gets his first down.

Those downfield picks are near impossible to defend. Only the very best DBs can be in man coverage while also looking for a pick 12-15 yards downfield. Also requires the type of communication between DBs we've rarely seen in Dallas

Looking at the Patriots scoring average this year, I think the entire league is having issues with defending downfield picks. A letter from NFL should be sent to every team and put them on notice that the refs will be calling more Offensive Interference than ever. Even a hint of an offensive playing running possibly interfering with DB will get called.

Until the Patriots get called for 5-10 Offensive pass interference calls every game they will not stop.

People should read and understand what defines a legal and illegal pick.

“I kind of chuckle because everybody goes, ‘That's a pick play! That's a pick play!’ ” says former ref Jim Daopoulos, who spent 11 years as an on-field official and 12 more as an NFL supervisor of officials. “Well, pick plays are legal. It's legal to throw a pick.”

There is a lot of gamesmanship involved and I happen to agree with Belichick. Know the rules, push the envelope.

That is called opportunistic coaching.

Meanwhile, some are throwing an antiquated Sid Gillman derivation out there expecting their talent to beat their talent.

The NFL is too advanced for that now.

The solution is quite easy and one where the CFL is looking next year to rectify. Teams should be able to challenge offensive pass interference. This at least will stop large gains or Td's that have an impact on games.

Initiating contact with a DB 10 yards downfield is illegal. These are the plays that have to be officiated out of the game. All that stuff happening around the line of scrimmage is one thing and I get that it is legal. But DBs covering WRs and getting clipped by another WR 7-12 yards downfield should be called every time.
