The League Needs a Rule Around the Scrum

The Eagles are abusing this and it is a cheat code, imo. When you can't stop a team from. 3 yards away because the ball carrier is being carried by 3 guys, it is a problem. I am so sick of watching it. The Eagles lose many games if they are not able to do this bull....

They were hard enough to stop in 2017 with their sneaks...now it is ridiculous level.

What type of rules should be put in place to mitigate this football travesty? I am thinking something like, "No more than one player can push a ball carrier on a given play".

Here is an article on it that talks about how the league changed the rule in 2005...

https://www.latimes.com/sports/stor...les prohibited, was too difficult to legislate.

weve used it to. We just dont get in that situation as much as the eagles. well be 3rd and short and take a sack or do a double reverse. Im ok with that you want to stop it get tougher

I said last night it needs to be regulated.

Otherwise, teams will just sign a couple of 500 lb Sumos, the qb will snap the ball and lean forward, and two Sumos will get a running start and blast the qb like a cannon ball for 5 yards a pop.

I always wondered why the Bears and other teams didn't turn more to the "Refrigerator" type players to do goal line plays for tds, just about impossible to stop a 400 lb guy running near full speed into a pile of players.

The owners may have informally gotten together and said that's not something they wanted to see all the time and just basically decided to not do it, but who knows?

I give them credit for perfecting it...but I really can't stand it. 3 yards out and the qb gets carried into the end zone...it is out of control.

I also give them credit bc they know their strengths and play to them extremely well. We do the dumb stuff that you mentioned.

Yeah, like the article said it would be very hard to officiate. Those guys have enough problems with simple plays. Shout out to @MarcusRock

WANT IT TO STOP? Play better defense so they don't have 4th and short or short yardage
Ya, they should be able to add 2 more additional players on defense to defend it then.

Clearly, no one can stop it.

There used to be a rule that you can't help the ball carrier advance. It's been a rule since the Ice Bowl. At some point it was removed.

2005 they removed it....just can't pull players now. I don't like it...i like when one player comes, like an Olineman, and moves the pile. That is fair...when you stack guys behind the qb to push and carry...it is stupid.

I'm guessing the rules committee will look into this. Otherwise we're going to see it from half the league next year. Or more.

Wasn't bad when it was a running back or fullback doing the pushing but now teams are bringing in OL guys to do the pushing. It is like having 8 or 9 OL in the game. Eagles used AJ Brown in it who is as big or bigger than some TE. I agree that the play can be fun sometimes to watch but limit it to only one player who can push no matter who the player is. Then it will be truly a test of strength of the two lines.

The defense really can't use more than 5 DL because anymore than that and the offense will shift at the last second and you would have a player like Lamb on a LB for an easy score.

Rule needs to be changed.

They will lose Kelce to retirement and Sealmuto to FA. I don't think it will be as effective next season losing an inside guy and your HOF center who gets so low. But who knows.
