The Level Headed Thread

Fair enough. I can see you're trying to be level headed. I agree on most of that. I am 95% sure Bledsoe won't be benched though and that's the reason I try to keep an even keel.

And I disagree that it's okay if we go 6-10 with Romo starting. I think that would be giving up on the season, and I'm not ready to do that after 4 games. It may come in a month or so though :D

Your absolutely right, Bledsoe will not be benched. I am 100% sure on that. Even if he continues to struggle, he will not be benched. I wish dallas would turn it around and go 11-5, but I don't see it with Bledsoe starting. And believe me, I hope I am wrong and everyone points fingers at me and states, "We told you Bledsoe could do it." I just don't think it will happen. If Bledsoe continues to sink it up, then Romo should start. If 3-3 is our future record, than it will be time for a change. But your right, it will never happen and that is our problem.

Maybe a bad choice of words on my part. We had a chance to win, it wasn't because of Bledsoe, but we had a chance to win. Typically with a bus driver, that's all you can ask for.

Bump...

Good thread.

2-2 is not a bad place to be right now.

Nope, but we're patient, we got fewer ulcers.

We're going to be fine and this season is going to be fun.

at the end of the game it seemed as though the team has lost confidence in
Bledsoe.

more like lost confidence in the OL.

The defense, until the long plays kicked in, gave us a chance to win. Bledsoe from the first drive was a liabiity.

Drew "I Dare You to Blitz" Bledsoe was the complete package today...slow of mind and foot, not sensing the rush or seeing it and not throwing the ball away in time, short-hopping, misjudging receivers, happy footed, ball patting, seeing shadows, unable to evade the rush one whit, and making the kind of poor judgments expected in a rookie. Seeing him on the sidelines blaming Witten (if the commentators had it right, and I'd bet they did) for the last pick was pure Bledsoe, as well.

His rushing TD was the sole example of leadership I witnessed today. He looked fr***led and rattled even before Howard moved set up camp in the backfield. Pressure up the middle against him is nothing new, but the oline that protects him will always look worse than it actually is.
Sorry to be a drama queen, but no one could review that movie without getting melodramatic.

And sadly, the schedule (Houston next week) will allow the scenario to play itself out once more in which Bledsoe "rebounds" against inferior competition.

The real storyline is the team overall is not good enough to win against the better teams with a substandard QB.

It's still early season, but I do not think playoffs is in the future of any team whose QB falls apart to that extent...you can live with picks OR with sacks OR with slow reads OR with holding on too long OR with arthitic level immobility...but you can't live with all of the above and make the playoffs.

Nice post LTN. I agree with your assessment.

That last pick was inexcusable. And if what you said is true, about him blaming Witten, that's just asinine.

I don't know how many times I have to say this, and I don't know why anyone else hasn't looked at this on TIVO or DVR, but Witten was wide open despite being held.

We had two more plays in such a situation (4 downs). There was no excuse for throwing the pass to a spot because it obviously shouldn't have been thrown there after looking at the replay.

Drama queens not allowed...
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

We played a bad game, no question.

Bledsoe was bad, the OL was bad, the playcalling was bad, TO was dropping passes, the secondary got shredded, we got no pressure from 4 man rushes.

Everyone knew this game was going to be a war going in. The Cowboys are always in for a war in Philly. With TO on the team, that only adds to it. And that's exactly what we got. It was a war, and we had our chances.

IMO the only two guys that had good to decent games were Demarcus Ware and Julius. Ware was the only one who was getting any pressure, and he wasn't rushing that often it didn't seem. JJ was great. Personally, I thought we should have grinded it out on the ground when we got up.
That's why I thought the playcalling was bad.

Bledsoe was bad... I think the pass rush obviously had him rattled. The throw to TGlenn could have been a TD if he hadn't underthrown him. At least that underthrow wasn't picked, and as bad as Drew played, we still had a chance to win. There's no disputing Drew is a bus driver, that's been the deal since he's been here. And the bus driver, as bad as he played, still gave us a chance to win. I'm not going to sit here and defend him in this thread. I know however that he will likely be starting next week, and it's going to take at least a couple more stinkers for BP to pull him.

I think the worst parts were the adjustments (or lack thereof) in pass protection, and the ineptness of the defense. When Drew got sacked those two times setting up the 4th and 18 on the last drive, the Eagles were rushing 3. That's why he held the ball so long IMO. When they rush three, Bledsoe should have a few more seconds, and should be able to step up into a pocket. That wasn't the case. The OL couldn't stop Howard.

ON defense... when you face the Philly Eagles you typically don't have to worry about the running game beating you. ESPECIALLY when Brian Westbrook is hampered with a knee injury. You have to worry about McNabb beating you. There is no excuse for letting them throw for 330+ yards with the secondary we have... none.

Bottom line. We're in second place in the division, at 2-2... 1 1/2 games behind Philly with them at our place on Christmas. This season is a long way from being over.

Philly guys, PT, etc. Congrats on the win. It was hard fought, like we knew it would be. See you on Christmas.

A good thread - The Level Headed Thread

yes we are level at 2-2... better play calling and execution and we are 4-0

you know that BP quote "you are what your records says you are"

we are a 2-2 team that SHOULD be 4-0... so that quote is wrong.

So anybody that wants to try and tell it how it is, is a drama queen? It sure must be nice living in fantasy land. Unfortunatly some of us have to deal with reality. More kool-aid?

There's an echo in this thread. Helloooo hellooo helloo hello.

Guess we've run out of level-headed. Maybe it'll come back next sunday.

Actually ab, I think we agree on a lot of things... as long as it's football.

Did you even read the post? What exactly was unrealistic?

I swear to God sometimes I hate this board.

Yes I read the post and thought it was quite accurate. It wasn't the actual post I was talking about. I just didn't like the fact that you didn't want to hear from all the guys that wanted to voice their displeasure with Bledsoe. I'm guessing thats what you meant by the "no drama queens" comment. It's no secret that I no longer trust Bledsoe as the QB of this team but that does not make me a drama queen for stating my opinion about it.

It's love-hate for me, even at these moments. I get a thrill coming in here to hear the Wailers and Gnashers explain the depths of our awfulness as a squad. I can't wait till we crush the Texans so I can come in and hear...the Wailers and Gnashers explain the depths of our awfulness as a squad.

We're going to be fine.

As good as the players are in our secondary, they didn't make plays when needed; when you're not getting pressure on opposing QB's, the secondary is going to get beat. Zimmer needs to figure out how to get more pressure; BP's leash might be too short.

Bledsoe's imobility invites blitzing! McNabb's mobility is a big reason we didn't blitz much imo.

As many errors as the Boys made and they still were in the game; had a chance to tie it up. Can we fix the "mistakes" with the players we have? You can't fix imobility by sticking with the status quo, so the protection schemes needs to be fixed if BP is going to stick with Bledsoe.

True, not every team is going to blitz and get pressure like Philly! We probably can get by and slip into the playoffs with the team as is, but when the playoffs start and if we have any success at all in the playoffs, then our ability to give Bledsoe time and our ability to give opposing QB's less time will be tested.

I think we can pass the defensive test; I think the DL and LB's will step up, mature, and become dominating this season. I have yet to see, or feel, that the OL can adequately protect an imobile QB; once teams start laying licks on Bledsoe, well, we've seen what happens in those games - how do you fix that?

Unless they start protecting Bledsoe better, the SB isn't in the future!

I couldn't believe how long Bledsoe was holding the ball in the 4th quarter yesterday; even my thirteen year old daughter was yelling to throw the d*mn ball! Geesh!

Philly played a very good game! They deserved that win!
