The Level Headed Thread

Bledsoe from the first drive was a liabiity.

Drew "I Dare You to Blitz" Bledsoe was the complete package today...slow of mind and foot, not sensing the rush or seeing it and not throwing the ball away in time, short-hopping, misjudging receivers, happy footed, ball patting, seeing shadows, unable to evade the rush one whit, and making the kind of poor judgments expected in a rookie. Seeing him on the sidelines blaming Witten (if the commentators had it right, and I'd bet they did) for the last pick was pure Bledsoe, as well.

His rushing TD was the sole example of leadership I witnessed today. He looked fr***led and rattled even before Howard moved set up camp in the backfield. Pressure up the middle against him is nothing new, but the oline that protects him will always look worse than it actually is.
Sorry to be a drama queen, but no one could review that movie without getting melodramatic.

And sadly, the schedule (Houston next week) will allow the scenario to play itself out once more in which Bledsoe "rebounds" against inferior competition.

The real storyline is the team overall is not good enough to win against the better teams with a substandard QB.

It's still early season, but I do not think playoffs is in the future of any team whose QB falls apart to that extent...you can live with picks OR with sacks OR with slow reads OR with holding on too long OR with arthitic level immobility...but you can't live with all of the above and make the playoffs.

I haven't come to the level headed thread to bash Bledsoe. He is what he is. We faced a superior defensive line today and they made us look pretty bad (I note this was without Kearse). We all knew going in this season our OL was going to have to protect Bledsoe for us to be successful.

We pretty much got the whole package. All of our weaknesses as a team were exposed. How many times was Bledsoe's arm hit? How many times was he simply harried? Under this kind of rush, his decision making declines and he makes mistakes (short throws and the INTs). We've seen it before and I repeat I'm not bashing. It would have taken someone like (dare I say it) McNabb who is comfortable throwing on the move to be successful yesterday.

Our defense handled the short timing based throws that the WCO specializes in. When we stopped the big play we had success keeping them out of the end zone. But when you give them a short field from turnovers and fail to stop the big play, you can not beat the Eagles. I thought the defense showed evidence of understanding what they we're going to do, but did not execute well enough. Watkins looked like a rookie out there and I believe cost us 14 points.

LTN, I understand your post and I agree with many of your points. But I am going to disagree with your main point. This team CAN win with Bledsoe but not if we play like we did yesterday. We had breakdowns across the board (not at RB and WR) and if it takes a pro bowl performance from your QB to win, this team won't win most of the time.

I wish we had someone like McNabb as our QB....but we don't. Bledsoe had his mistakes and the performance we got is vintage Bledsoe when he is pressured all day. We must find another way to win this year and I believe it is possible to do so. We have invested huge amounts in our defense and they must execute better against the big play. The OL is going to have to protect better if we are going to win.

Then what was all that about having a first and goal with 40 seconds left to tie the game on the road against an extremely fired up 3-1 team?

Yes I read the post and thought it was quite accurate. It wasn't the actual post I was talking about. I just didn't like the fact that you didn't want to hear from all the guys that wanted to voice their displeasure with Bledsoe. I'm guessing thats what you meant by the "no drama queens" comment. It's no secret that I no longer trust Bledsoe as the QB of this team but that does not make me a drama queen for stating my opinion about it.
