The main reason why this game will be very close

I think people should disabuse themselves of the notion that this game will be over before Halftime.

Folks, I believe the main reason why you start seeing undefeated teams late in the season have so many close games is because Coordinator around the league have "figured you out" and since those teams are undefeated, they began to get everyone's "best shot". All it takes is for one team to come up with a formula to slow an undefeated team down and every Coaching Staff in the league will mimic that formula.

You also have to realize that the Dallas Cowboys have been in every single game this season.

I'm certain that Wade Phillips has looked at a ton of film on the Saints, especially those games that were really close.

I have this feeling that this game is going to be very close, much like the Thursday Nigh Game between the Colts and Jaguars.

Won't be able to post much today, just thought I would share that :D .

I agree with your conclusion that coaches figure out opposing schemes. However, in this case, Phillips has me concerned. I hope I am wrong.

All Wade Phillips has figured out is if you slap the side of the snack machine when you put in your quarters, it will hiccup two packages of Ho-hos.

Dallas has consistent ability to give up big plays in crucial moments against good teams. Couple this with the Saints ability to create big plays and this will be the heartbreaker for us tonight.

The scenerio that worries me (and probably most of us): Cowboys fall behind, Romo is pressed into making things happen, the turnovers mount, and the Cowboys fall further behind.

I'd guess a part of the Cowboys overall objectives would be to slow down the game by running the ball and keeping the Saints' O on the sideline.

On NFL.com, there's a video exchange between Brad Sham and the Saints announcer, and the Saints guy is pointing out that early in the season they got all those touchdowns on returns by their defense. Those have dried up latetly, and that's the main reason their games have been closer lately.

So while they have a great offense, if we don't give them the ball, we may be able to keep up with them on the scoreboard. The key to me is that our O has to show up, unlike against the Chargers (or Skins or Packers).

Hell if the sucky Commanders can hang with them, why not us? ;)
Same reason that if the Giants beat us twice, and yet got demolished by the Saints, how can we win?

Watching the Panthers game on Replay right now, the Saints can be ran on. Especially once you get into their secondary, thats why I hope Felix gets the bulk of the carries today. We need some electric plays once guys get to the next level.

With that said I'm sure Barber will get all the carries and we'll throw it 50 times.

I think Dallas has the players on defense, on a good night at least, to keep the Saints offense down somewhat.

I also think that if the Saints get off to a fast start, things could snowball really quick in the Superdome.

All things considered, I like the Saints chances of overcoming a slow start more than I like Dallas' chances of overcoming a slow start.

The thing that still bothers me as a Saint fan is that Dallas theoretically should play with more desperation than the Saints.

With all of this said, I can't help but think if the Saints defense plays well, they win easily, if not, it's anyone's game.

Look for a replay of the 06 game where the secondary gets carved up in the middle of the field. Saints loaded with playmakers for which Cowboys have few answers. This is the Saints biggest game of the year in prime time, likely gets ugly particularly if the get up by two scores early.

I think we cant and wont win a shootout, if we can run the ball with success and punch it in, we have a chance. The defense has to find a way to minimize TD's and hold them to FG'S.

My fear is payton will attack us vertically and we will have matchup problems and if we dont get sacks Look out....

I'm sure wade looked at the dolphins/saints game, they harrassed and sacked Brees the whole first half of that game

smh at people who think a game three years ago with different coaches and players matters today...

If a Chris Redman-led Atlanta team can take them down to the wire, we certainly can.

I really hate to say this but....Dallas matches up TERRIBLY against the Saints and in my opinion, the game is more likely to be over by halftime than it will be a close game. Hopefully I'm wrong but I never am. Will be rooting them on as always but I am not feeling good about this one......at all.

Fear the fullback.

I don't doubt the game will be close, but Dallas finds a way to lose.
