Parcells deserves to be the coach. He has a winning record in 3 of the 4 years he's been here. He may only be 34-30 with 2 playoff loses, but the team was in position to win at least 2 more games this year and 3 games last year. 39-25 looks a whole lot better, but the team was in POSITION, lining up attempting to kick game winning field goals is a good thing. Parcells cant tackle, block, run, kick or throw the ball. His job is to prepare the team and put them in POSITION to win. We weren't competitive in the Eagles and Saints home games, but these grown professional football players should understand the stakes and be prepared to play the game.

and i get sick of the excuses parcells is allowed to hide behind that ANY OTHER COACH would not be allowed the same grace.

"you are what you are" unless you're parcells.

You don't fire or keep a coach b/c of what you are. You fire/keep him b/c of what you're likely to be. So this misapplied Parcellsism isn't relevant.

Now, are we gonna be something better than a 9-7 team next year? That's a reasonable point of discussion. I say 'yes,' because I thought we were pretty close this year, and I think we have holes but our overall talent level is very high.

I wonder how many of the people who wanted Holmgren's head in Seattle two years ago are still chirping today?

The second annoying specious argument I hear in these Parcells threads all the time is the one where it takes three years for a player to develop, so that's how long he should get to develop an entire team. In case you're wondering. Because, yeah, those two are remotely similar; they both contain the word 'develop.'

You cannot win!

You and others that want him gone (I could'nt care less), or for him to make up his mind NOW...

If after the Seattle game, Parcells says "it's over, I'm outta here", then you guys would ridicule him for leaving without getting the job done!
He's a loser in your eyes...

If he announced NOW that he is coming back to stay as long as it takes to win a SuperBowl, then it would be, "Oh no! Not another more sorry years for the Cowboys with this lame duck coach"!
He's a loser in your eyes...

The moaning and groaning about Parcells is really getting ridiculous...because if he leaves and JJ hires someone that you don't like or want...
Then JJ is a loser for letting Parcells go...

Lots of spoiled brats around here!

:D

GUILTY!!!!!!!and I'm the oldest :laugh2:

I want to see the fruits of all these phone calls to agents etc. or is it just BS.

If you want my honest opinion...I hope he goes. But, then what?

I like Parcells...he's done a world of wonders for JJ...just teaching HIM how to run a football team! However, I don't like his style of football...that is why I really would like an offensive minded football coach, FOR ONCE! Someone that will ATTACK...someone that will TAKE IT TO THE OTHER TEAM....someone with the mind that says, "Stop me if you can, sucker"!

I know that people say that defense wins...but, sometimes you need someone that will outsmart a defense, and a defensive minded coach don't (at least to my thinking), concentrate on HOW to attack a defense...they just worry about how to stop the other team!

If you know how to attack another team and put up points and keep your defense OFF the field for more then 2 minutes...then it's up to that other team to try and catch up...much like Parcell's game plans...

Anyway, we will see...(you spoiled brat)! :D

we'd have kept campo if that were the case, then. or hell, hutch? leaf? hambrick?

you keep people based on current performance. past history can come into play but for only so long.

I like ATTACK...!!!!!! both on defense and offense. So, I am with you.

I really don't have any prefrence whether the HC is D or O. If the HC is worth his weight he will hire coordinators that share his philosophy, those he can trust to teach, with motivational skills, creative, and coaches he can trust in game situations. In other words let the Coordinators do their thing.

You will see every year in the playoffs Good Defensive Teams and good Offensive Teams. You will always see matchups of Teams w/ a good O matched a team w/ a good D. Usually the team w/the better D wins. There are exceptions Colts against the Ravens last weekend.... The better O wins but can't you contribute the W to the Colts D? Was the Ravens O that bad or was the Colts D that good?

Of course there will be games that are shootouts........You must have the D and defensive players that will make a play for you in the 4th qt. and of course the same can be said for the O.

In todays game w/the turnover of the rosters you are only going to have so many "Stars" on each side of the ball. It's the HeadCoach that can teach, be flexable, be creative, able to make adjustments and can hire coaches who can do likewise that will get you to where you want to be.

Dude, for someone who has as much football knowledge as you purport to have, what are you doing down in that border town rebuilding a Dodge? Bill needs assistants...give him a call.

You're intentionally misunderstanding me. I know you grasp the difference between 'what I'd like' and 'what's likely.'

We both agree, at least, that history is not a good reason for keeping a head coach.

what's likely is getting what you've gotten the last 4 years, not 15+ years ago.

I'm a glutton (?) for punishment. I'd rather stay here in 120 degree weather rebuilding a car.

Oh that, and I've never claimed to have any amount of football knowledge. I have only criticized people that obviously don't have any. It doesn't mean I claim to have an abundance of it.

I never said that. It's not their hate of BP that makes their football knowledge of the equivelant of bird droppings. That knowledge would be the equivelant of bird droppings even if they didn't hate BP. There's plenty of people here that don't feel the need to let us all know how much they hate BP on a daily freakin' basis that also have the football knowledge of bird droppings.

And since I have an OSU fan on the line... just curious, where do you think Ginn will get drafted? You think the injury will make him drop?

^^^ That's a serious question, btw.
