The Mavericks are firing Harrison

Sources: Mavericks expected to fire general manager Nico Harrison

Dallas Mavericks general manager Nico Harrison is expected to be fired Tuesday morning during a 10 a.m. CT meeting scheduled with team governor Patrick Dumont, sources told ESPN.

Harrison has been under fire from Mavericks fans since he stunningly traded Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers on Feb. 2, months removed from the then-25-year-old five-time first-team All-NBA selection leading the franchise to an NBA Finals appearance.

It was a terrible move. Far worse than Micah given how much impact a single player can have in basketball. You can make the argument that anyone in the NFL is tradeable. But if you have a Luka, Jokic, Giannis, Wemby, you don’t trade them unless you have no choice.

I have no idea what the interaction between him and the owners were back in February and before that, but was this something they were fine with or greenlit? I mean were they all the casino family, were they all that ignorant about NBA dealings or basketball?

Anyway right move bad timing.

I am happy for the Mavs fans ......... this guy set your team back 5 years.

Now the rebuilding can start.

I’d agree almost 100% but say that the Luka trade would’ve been like the Patriots trading Tom Brady or P Manning in their prime. Once a generation you luck yourself into finding a player like that and like you said, in basketball a single great player of five on the floor vs 22 in football. Impact of a great player in basketball is exponentially greater than the impact of a great football player save maybe QBs like Manning or Brady.

PS, still will never believe the trade wasn’t part of a league plot to help the Lakers and they rewarded Dallas with the first pick.

Good! It's one thing to make a bad move and then acknowledge it didn't go as planned and it's another to have so much hubris that you act like it was a great move and look at unhappy customers like they are idiots. He had many issues.

A formal open letter on Mavericks letterhead addressed to all Mavs fans from owner Patrick Dumont dated after the ousters of Nico Harrison. The letter discusses commitment to future success, appreciation for fan support, and building a positive winning culture. It includes the Mavericks logo at the bottom.

I agree. I think there are a handful of untradeable NFL players, but they come around once every few years. Prime Brady and Peyton, like you mentioned, and maybe a young Mahomes. Heck, even Lamar Jackson was in trade talks for many years while he was still winning MVPs.

Fire Sale in Dallas! If anyone is looking for a decent big man who gets hurt every week, or a once great guard who may or may not be the same again after recovery, everything must go....! Except Flagg.

Dallas Fans took out Nico. They're coming for you next Jerry!
