I wish the Mavs could acquire a 1 or 2-guard who would consistently drive to the basket, create his own shot, and cause havoc on the other end of the floor. But that's not an easy task because teams don't give those players away.

Take a look at the top teams in the West - every one of them has a player (or two) that fits that description.

Harris was the closest thing we had to that.

Harris was great at driving to the basket, but often he's uncontrolled and wild. He's still young so I think he could develop interior passing skills. But Harris had a below average jump shot and couldnt really create his own mid-range shot.

we're lacking athleticism at so many positions. man, i remember hearing that the clippers were interested in doing Jet for Magette. I would have done that immediately.

I don't know if Harris would have been the answer, but he was the closest we had to that - along with being young, there was potential to get better and we had him locked down to a reasonable contract that he had signed only months before the trade.

Jet Terry for Maggette? When did that come up?

I really like Nellie, but he's 67 years old now so I wouldn't imagine he would be around more than a year or two. Oh, and Mark Cuban is still the owner and as long as that is so, Don Nelson will never be back as coach of this franchise.

I imagine the top candidates would be Del Harris or Paul Westphal, since they have a connection to the Mavs recently.

Last summer a deal for Dallas Mavericks point guard Jason Terry in exchange for Maggette was discussed, partly because Dunleavy was worried about losing Maggette to free agency. But Sterling rejected the deal.

the clippers owner eventually re-thought it and rejected it. what could have been

josh howard is just terrible

If Josh goes down the court and bricks another long jumper, I'm turning it off.

Hats off to Dirk, Terry and Bass in this game. No one else showed up. Stupid foul by Kidd.

I think Avery should bench Howard to start out game 5

It didn't take me long to turn it off and turn to the Stars game at all. I don't like watching idiocy. WHY did the Mavs put JJ Barea and Stackhouse in the game in the 2nd quarter? Avery's substitutions and his love of veterans cost the team. Avery simply needs to go and while we're at it, if we lose on Tuesday, Eddie Jones, Devin George, Jerry Stackhouse, and Juwan Howard needs to go as well. Start the freaking thing over.

BUT WAIT...we have no picks.....:bang2: please hurry up July.

Game 4?... yeah they suck!... but you gotta love move that got Kidd elected from the game. That tape will have some replay burn marks on it before it's all over.

Don't we have more appropriately named thread somewhere?

The Mavericks do indeed suck.

Josh Howard is a nut! Remember when he dropped his shorts during a game to tuck his shirt in?

That would probably be best. If it gives him a boost, then great. If it doesn't, then at least we're giving those minutes to someone else.

This isn't the NFL draft. Late first or second round picks rarely pan out as stars in the NBA (notable exceptions including Ginobili, Parker, and slumping Josh Howard).
