Anyone who wanted Mendenhall over Jones clearly had no vision of what this Offense was looking for. Not even the Merriman over Ware threads in retrospect achieve the kind of silliness that Mendenhall over Jones is. At least Merriman would have fit the Cowboys scheme.

:laugh2: You are cracking me up.

I wanted Felix Jones and Chris Johnson more than I wanted McFadden or Mendenhal. I never thought highly of Mendenhal, never wanted him. I would have rather picked up another position and drafted an RB in a later round then taken Mendenhal, I felt there was FAR better value available.

As for Mcfadden, I've always felt Felix did more for him than he did for Felix. I manily wanted a speedy/finesse back to compliment Barber. I'm a huge fan of the Bruiser/Finesse combo out of the back field.

I didn't even think about the running back comparison while reading that...I was more connected to the entire philosophy of the coach and team. There's no wonder the Steelers have been so tough mentally in close games.

the steelers and the media want you to think that they are this tough lunchpail team- then they pick Mendenhall. Tells you all you need to know.

I wanted Chris Johnson...........I never wanted DMac, Felix, Mendenhall, or a few others.

Chris Johnson, Jamaal Charles, Kevin Smith, and another one I can't recall at the moment...

I found Rice to be ok, but I wasn't gung-ho for him. I didn't really know anything about Choice. I liked how hard Hart played, but I felt he wouldn't really make it in the NFL. I cannot recall if Slaton was in that draft or not, but I wasn't all that into him either....

I think that draft worked out for us, Tennessee, Detroit, Baltimore, and Houston. These 5 teams got so much better at the RB position in that draft.

Unfortunately I have no way to back it up as I wasn't a regular user of this forum yet, not even sure if I had found it yet.

But yes, I did not want Mcfadden. I didn't think he'd make it, and I still don't. I'm in love with Bush style running backs, I wanted Felix or CJ, and Felix a little more than CJ. In retrospect I'd rather have CJ, but what can ya do =p

I just don't believe that there was anyone who didn't want McFadden. You didn't want to trade up for him, or didn't want to take him if we were in the Top 10? Fine. But flat out didn't want him? No way. He was widely considered to be one of the best RB prospects to come out in years. Now not so much, but that's hindsight speaking.

I would have wanted Felix or CJ over him if all 3 were available. Obviously I would have been happy with him if those 2 weren't available, but I didn't and still don't think he'll ever make it.

It is Mendenhal I flat out didn't want, at all, ever.

Reggie Bush style RBs?? You mean RBs who aren't RBs, but are WRs?

And I'd caution anyone anyone thinking McFadden is a bust at this point. It's way to early and he plays for an incompetent organization.

Yes, RB's with elusiveness and speed. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't want one as my only back, but nothing compliments a bruising back like a speedy finesse back. We almost had it when we had the Jones/Barber tandem, but Jones turned into crap. I didn't want or feel the need to replace Barber or find his future replacment, I wanted to get a back that complimented his playstyle, and our offense.

I and havn't yet called Mcfadden a bust, but I think he will be one. This is the NFL and it's too early to tell 'cause you never know for sure.

I agree whole heartedly with this. Sure McFadden could be a bust, but I don't trust the performance of any player on that team. They are an incompetent team as you said.

I suspect a change of scenery for McFadden to a good team would make a huge difference in his performance.

Man I loved that movie.

[after Spicoli wrecks Jefferson's car]
Jefferson's Brother: My brother's gonna kill us! He's gonna kill us! He's gonna kill you and he's gonna kill me, he's gonna kill us!
Jeff Spicoli: Hey man, just be glad I had fast reflexes!
Jefferson's Brother: My brother's gonna ****!
Jeff Spicoli: Make up your mind, dude, is he gonna **** or is he gonna kill us?
Jefferson's Brother: First he's gonna ****, then he's gonna kill us!
Jeff Spicoli: Relax, all right? My old man is a television repairman, he's got this ultimate set of tools. I can fix it.

I just checked in PFW's 2008 Draft Preview on Felix, and he didn't miss that many game for Arkansas, still one of the negatives they mention was concern for his durability. I find it amazing that this machine of a running back can be so injury prone.

I'll admit that I wanted CJ over Felix during the draft, but not now. He is the best pure runner to come along in a long time. I mean, he's averaging 10.1 yds./carry this year, and averaged over 9 last year. I know that it's 21 carries for 212 yds. & 1 TD, but that would be a heck of a game for any one of the top running backs 15 years ago.

If he can ever get & stay healthy, he will be major force in this league. I can see him beating the all-time average of Jim Brown of 5yds.

That is probably my favorite scene in the movie.
