The Mike McCarthy Question

Mike should have been fired after GB. It is clear that he hasn’t been able to improve this team’s performance in the postseason, which was the whole reason he was hired.

That said— JJ missed the firing window this past offseason. With the commitment he made to Dak, and Dak’s support for MM— I guess I don’t really have a problem signing him to a 2-3 deal and marrying him and Prescott for the rest of Dak’s deal.

Bringing in another offense for Dak to learn will take at least a year to adjust. MM just surpassed BP on the all time wins list. I just think making a change now when the players are vocalizing support is wrong— even though firing him after GB was right.

Timing is everything. And as usual— JJ’s timing was off and now the makeup of this team and the coaching staff makes this a more complicated decision than it should be.

All that said— if we lose the next 3 games— I think MM is gone on principle. Retaining him presupposes that we win at least 2 of the next 3 games and “finish strong” as JJ says lol

Coach
He's get the blame when thing go wrong but rarely get the credit for the things that go right.

We have the Brady vs. Belichick debate.
But few could name the coaches Peyton Manning played for.

Sean Payton and Drew Brees seemed tied to the hip while Reid and Mahomes are creating their legacy together.

The problem here is not the coaches you bring in or the players you draft, it's the micro managing ever present mega mouthed egoistic pin head hillbilly GM wannabe who expects credit but none of the blame.

8 wins saves him . And with two home games it’s a very real possibility . The game in Philly looks ugly
Do you think about your responses? Philly hired a first time NFL head coach. He’s peculiar, unconventional, has had more regular season and post season success than McCarthy since he became a head coach in the NFL, and he’s going to be fired if his team does not get into the Super Bowl this season. (even though he has a year left on his contract that must be paid) Meanwhile, the Cowboys are going to keep McCarthy if he can win 8 games. See the difference?

If Siriani has at least a win in the playoffs which if they are # 1 seed should land them in NFCCG territory he’s not getting fired stop with the dramatics .

Last I checked Siriani lost to the Chiefs in the SB . Where is his SB ring ?

MM has one probably locked up in a safe for beating the Steelers at AT&T stadium ironically enough . Show me the Ring King :starspin:

My point is the expectation for Sirianni to remain a head coach is high. And his team just swept the AFC North. The expectation for McCarthy to remain head coach is just beating the Steelers at AT&T because he won a Super Bowl with the Packers over a decade ago? I’m going to guess you’re fine with that.

You don't "see the difference" between a team that is mostly healthy and one that is playing the majority of its season without its starting QB and several other starters?

But by all means, fire any coach who can't win the East and playoff games with Cooper Rush.

Kellen Moore's offense here was a joke against the top teams.
KM had no idea how to use the running game with the all pro line we had back then to close out games at the end with a ball control power running game.

Let’s be fair…

KMoore had the #1 offense in Dallas.

when he left, we got Big Mikes Basic offense.

if a change is made...
i'd love to see mike vrable coach here.
or rams dc chris shula.

but i think "they" will go with kellen moore.

that is if they move off mccarthy and i am starting to doubt they will.
Only way Big Mike gets a new deal is if Jerry is happy.

Jerry doesn’t look happy.

No I’m saying what I think Jerry will do not what I would do let’s not mix things up here King . I’ve been on record in numerous threads that this team should hire a young NFL OC as the next coach . Too many instances lately of young OC coming into franchises and offenses perk up and playoff wins even SB wins start happening . ( see Rams 49ers Vikings Browns if they ever get a QB ) .

When I say MM would only accept 3 yrs that’s how I think a Jerry offer would play out.

As to Siriani if the Eagles lose in its first playoff game then yes he’s fired . Too many unmet expectations . And head to head with MM he has not proven to be superior just hasn’t .

How did he “ lie “ I hadn’t heard that one ?

He told Jerry he watched every single play of the Cowboys from the year before and dissected it in the ‘barn’ with his buddies (including his first DC with Cowboys) and came up with plans of how to improve . Jerry was apparently very impressed by this and specifically said this was an important reason why he hired Mike

Later during a PC he admitted in a flippant manner that was not true

MM won’t sign for one yr no one would . Two is not enough because you’re back to lame duck after yr one . It would have to be 3 yrs around 30 million 10 per yr
I know he wont
Im just making the point that there are no good options with Mccarthy
Id just let him walk
