Here is what I have said for years...if you think Monk is a HOFer...then Keyshawn Johnson is a HOFer. So for those who do not think Keyshawn Johnson is a HOFer...let the Monk Argument go. In fact Keysahwn continues to play so he can put inflate his numbers so high that they will have to get him in. But to me it does not matter....he is a hard worker...good hands....shows up every Sunday WR...but teams do not gameplan for him...they do not change their defensive scheme to try and stop him and quite frankly...a lot of the catches Key gets is when other WRs clear out for him.
Lastly, I wish people would stop raining on the parade of Micheal Irvin BECAUSE Monk did NOT get in. Anyone who thinks they are in the same class as far as WRs go, they should not even be worth your time debating. Those timing routes he ran...you just DO NOT see that anymore. It takes tons and tons of practice....he was double teamed...often...so Troy would have to throw to a spot...and Irvin would have to be there. Without that, defenses would have just taken him out the game. The fact that they doubled him often is proof that defenses thought he was the guy that needed to be stopped. Nowadays...if a WR is doubled..most QBs do not even bother OR they try to move a guy around. Not with Mike..he lined up outside ALL THE TIME....everyone knew what was coming AND STILL COULD NOT STOP HIM.
