The modern day Art Monk... Keyshawn Johnson

Arts closest comparison in the league right now is Marvin Harrison. Marvin has no signature big play in big playoff games. Marvin ignores the media just like Art did. Marvins YPC is also similar to Arts. Both played next to two excellent WR's. (Clark and Wayne)

Only thing about Marvin Harrison that seperates him Art Monk never played for an elite QB.

Yeah, Im pretty sure the Harrison has over 100 TDs.....Harrison is going to go to the hall IMO. Hes classy and plays the game right.

The line that states Monk did not get a chance to play with an elite QB covers the part about TD's. If you've lived through the days Monk played, you can see why Monk and Harrison can be compared.

Im not here to tell you that you can't draw a comparison to either player. Im just saying that when time comes, Harrison gets in without a doubt. He will get in the first year he is elible.

Hes 3rd all time in Recieving TDs

4th In Receptions

6th in recieving yards.


The man could up and quit next week and still be a first ballot player.

Um are you serious? Its not about who was better, its about who deserves to be in there. Irvin did, and hes in. Monk does and hes not. Youre seriously comparing Keyshawn to Monk?

it's not a bad comparison since Keyshawn is the 2nd fastest player ever to reach 600 career receptions, behind Marvin Harrison, which would mean he got there faster than Monk did, and if Key stays in the league as long as Monk did, it's a good chance his stats would be similar, w/ Key having less TDs, and Key has 4 career, 1,000 receiving seasons, that's 1 less than Monk did in his career

i agree. i hate the skins but monk deserves it... not by a longshot, but he deserves it. and darrell green should not even be a question. he was deion before there was deion.

stats aside(although Monk has 3 rings to 1) Johnson was never seen as a leader by his teams and probably not even liked by a lot of his peers. Monk never got kicked off a team and has never been given the "meshawn" moniker. Ive never heard of a player or commentator (madden) talk about Keyshawn evenutually being in the HOF like they use to when Monk played.

I only remember Sanders the tight end from Detroit a little bit.

I don't know how anyone could say he deserves to be in the HOF over a player that lead the league in total receptions and consecutive games with a reception when he retired.

I just don't get it.

While I do not believe Monk was a truly great WR or a game changer, I think it's time for Monk to get in. Next year though he will run up against Cris Carter and Andre Reed again, there will be plenty of debate if either of those guys get in and Monk is denied once again. My guess is that either Carter or Reed or both will get in while Monk is once again denied.

I can only guess why the voters have failed to put him in as of yet, but if I were a guessing man it would be that Monk's career was based more on longevity then being a truly elite WR. That being said, I think him missing out for this long is statement enough and it's time for the voters to vote him in.

as I have said.....if you think Keyshawn is a HOFer...then Monk is...I did not give my opinion one way or the other. Also, Irvin was better than Monk...get over it.

I couldn't disagree more. Key's skill set was much closer to Michael Irvin, not Art Monk.

I'll never say Monk was better than Irvin, but Monk was definitely every bit as good, and a much better person.

I don't remember many dominant receivers from that era aside from Jerry Rice. Irvin wasn't a dominant receiver either since you seem to be using that as a criteria for HOF.

Monk wasn't even the best receiver on his own team.

Well if thats the case then you should think that Gary Clark should be in the HOF.

Add in Clarks 1 USFL year and his numbers are almost identical to Irvins.
