The moment Jerry realized Dak was the guy

It depends on what the definition of "the guy" is. If "the guy" is a player who can take a team to the Super Bowl with his ability and leadership, Dak is not "the guy".

If "the guy" is the best was have at his position at the moment and we are unlikely to get anyone much better due to our draft position, then Dak is your man. Dak is never going to take the team on his back for a full season and post season and lead them to a championship. But if you can build a top 10 defense and a solid offense around him, then maybe Dak can get it done. Maybe.

The problem is, Jerry has never been able or willing to build a solid team around Dak or anyone else. He seems more willing now, but I just don't think he has the ability to assemble a championship team around Dak.

I don’t even think it’s that deep. I think what he means is just a guy who is good lol. At the time they had Romo and Moore get hurt….Jameil Showers I think at the time was still playing some qb….Dak had no chance of making it and odds are a 4th rounder shouldn’t have had the career he did. But he was better than the typical qb prospect on year 1.

Oh, I'll be celebrating. After wandering the desert for 30 years, any sign of finding our way deserves to be celebrated.

If Dak performs, I will give him his due. Unfortunately, I have little faith he'll earn those kudos.

Yeah, that was...a lot. Dak is fine. He has the potential to win it all. He is the best realistic option the Cowboys have (and have had for the past few years) to do so. Like any QB, he needs the right team around him, but it's far from impossible that he could get a Super Bowl ring. But he's also far from being in the same tier as players like Dan Marino. There are always considerations about the differences in the eras in which they played. Would the rule changes that have favored the passing game make Dan Marino even better than he was? Or would Marino maybe struggle against today's more sophisticated defenses? Who knows? And similar questions could be posed about Dak.

But I think it'd be hard to find many people who would argue that Dak comes out favorably in a comparison to Marino.
