Not even close. Purdy can read a defense.
Not really.
Shanahan and his offensive scheme might be the very best in the NFL.
- The scheme made it easy for Purdy.
- Shanahan tells him before the play exactly which receiving target and where.
- Purdy then pretends to look elsewhere waiting for his primary target to get to his spot.
- The only read that Purdy does is to find the checkdown if the primary target is not an option.
- On many plays the non-primary targets are already getting ready to block for the primary target before the pass reaches the primary.
- i.e. Only 1 receiving option is even looking towards the QB with the exception that they often have a checkdown option in the flat area.
- I remember a specific play where it was comically obvious where there was only 1 target.
- On my next review, I'll get the time in the game for that play and post it.
The Niners win the game even if they had swapped QBs with Dallas.
