Yep, it's that little thing called character. Something Parcells and Jones stressed this offseason. Or perhaps he was a little shocked that he made such an impact. He may end up becoming a little more emotional as the season goes on. And that is fine by me. Bring back that swagger to the defense.

Bottomline, it was nice to see him humble.

That's true... and it's a refreshing thing, isn't it?

If I were a world class athlete just starting at a major college, or in the NFL... I would make sure to simply hand the ball to the ref when I scored, or just walk back to the defensive huddle after a sack.

They pound their chest and strike poses in order to get noticed. Well guess what? Everyone does it now, so if you do it... you blend in.

By being humble about it you would stick out. Larry Fitzgerald did it at Pitt and now in the NFL... and he got attention for it. Oh, and drafted really, really high in part because he was known as such a humble hard working guy.

I hear what you are saying, and I am very happy about that...

...but kicking Walter Jones and Steve Hutchinson's tail is the most impressive in my eyes.

I've got no problem with a player showing emotion after a big play. It helps get the whole team fired up. As long as they do it "with class", so to speak.

I just don't like when a player goes ape s**t after making a routine play (see Ray Lewis).

Good Observation...

You are exactly right- that crap is one of my pet peeves.
Do your job, act like you've been there, done that before. That's WAY more impressive to a viewer than an idiotic slam dunk over the goal post when you're on the wrong end of the scoreboard or a gorilla chest pound on a routine tackle.

I also love the fact he went for the forced fumble on a couple occasions, risking a sack or tackle stat. Seems as if many players will go for the sure sack to pad their own stats when a forced fumble helps out the team much more. Might still get the sack stat to go along w/ the forced fumble but any DL that goes for a fumble 1st, sack 2nd has the teams best interest in his mind.

When you strip the ball from the QB (if he's still behind the LOS) it counts as a sack whether the QB got tackled or not. So by stripping the ball from Hasselback, he still gets credit for the sack, eventhough Hasselback never got tackled on the play.

oh yea i understand that as they repeated his total stats alot during the game. And if you go for a strip and miss out on an easy sack that says alot to me. Just seems i see many defensive players go for the sure tackle (whether rushing the passer or just a routine tackle) when their 1st instincts should be going for the ball and i liked seeing that from him in the 1st half.

The fact we drafted Ware and passed on Merriman--that is most impressive to me!

Oh C'mon!.. Merriman wouldn't pound his chest or say look at me after a sack now would he!??....

Heck.. I think Merriman would do that even if a teammate got a sack

I liked that he didn't get carried away, but I'd have no problem if he jumped around a bit after that kind of play. The thing that impressed me, and made the play happen to a large degree, was just how fast he was off the ball. Ware watched the ball and as soon as it moved he was gone - he was half a step into the neutral zone before any offensive lineman had his hand off the ground. I watched it frame by frame and he's just WAY ahead of everyone else out there on that play. Then on top of the quickness he showed great body control by first moving to the inside and freezing Hutchinson, then taking it outside and going around him. If that play is any indication he's going to be a terror.

I've noticed his first step. That's a very big deal in the NFL. If you have a first step like Ware (not many do), then you've won half the battle right there. He's gonna create a LOT of problems with that acceleration. Once he adds some technique, he should be among the league leaders in sacks... I really believe that.

His pre game dance is a little over the top too!

For him to be moving before the linemen have gotten their hands off the ground is impressive. They know the count, he's watching the QB and the ball, and he still beats them to the punch. And it's not as if he got a running start or just guessed right on a blitz like you sometimes see. He watched and reacted, and he simply did it too quickly for the OL to handle. I have a feeling that having seen that quickness, when the regular season rolls around we won't see too many teams ask their guard to drop back and pick him up while the tackle blocks someone else.

This is supposed to be a fun game not a freaking Spelling B contest. If the guys want to pound their chest so be it. You should have seen me when Ware stripped that ball out of his hands, I was jumping up screaming woofing and acting like it was the final play of the superbowl that gave us the win.

If they are doing it because they're excited and that's the way they express themselves without going overboard, then do it.

What good is this game if we can't have a little innocent fun?

I did noticed that when they moved Ware to a basic DL up directly against the Tackle later in the game, he kept stringing the rush really wide. He can get deep on you when ever he wants to on anyone.

Now he will learn to move the tackle deep 3 times, then counter with a fake deep rush and cut back inside. I think he will cause a fumble per game, and hurry the QB 4 to 5 times a game a perhaps get a sack or 2 every other game.
