The most impressive part about Ware...

I did noticed that when they moved Ware to a basic DL up directly against the Tackle later in the game, he kept stringing the rush really wide. He can get deep on you when ever he wants to on anyone.

Now he will learn to move the tackle deep 3 times, then counter with a fake deep rush and cut back inside. I think he will cause a fumble per game, and hurry the QB 4 to 5 times a game a perhaps get a sack or 2 every other game.

that is going to be soooo fun to see!

Another thing about that play, not about Ware but the play in general. It gave us EXACTLY what you hope the 3 - 4 will provide. Ellis was lined up at DE on that side with Ware behind/next to him at OLB. Ellis attacked the gap and forced Jones to engage him. Now Jones could have tried to let Hutchinson take him alone while he worked outside, but I don't think Jones could have gotten up fast enough to handle the rush of Ware. I think they figure on that play that Hutchinson has more time to drop back then Jones would with Ware right on his outside shoulder. Ellis did a GREAT job on Jones IMO, working himself directly in Hasselbeck's face to prevent him from seeing the field and getting pressure up the middle. Hasselbeck appeared to be looking right on that play and it's a good thing fro him he was, because he wasn't going to see much looking left where Ellis was applying pressure. And while that was happening Ware came around behind and slapped the ball out. If we get that kind of play from the DE/OLB combination every week we're going to be a force on D.

Being conservative is all well and good, but quite frankly, I could care less what he does after a play, as long as he is making plays and not getting called for excessive celebration. I celebrate a lot when he makes a big play, you guys do to.........why cant he, I bet it makes him feel better than it does us.We are in no position to base our desicions on wether or not a guy celebrates a lot after making big plays. I say if he is a play-meker, bring him in, and work on that kind of stuff later if you want. JUST MAKE PLAYS!!!!!

I have a feeling that having seen that quickness, when the regular season rolls around we won't see too many teams ask their guard to drop back and pick him up while the tackle blocks someone else.

No, I don't think we'll see much of that either. He'll eat them alive if they try that.

Still, unless I'm mistaken, the guard's responsibility is the OLB a good portion of the time when you play a 3-4. They'll have to adjust and keep a back or TE in, if that's the case.

He's going to really help our defense.

And that's where Spears come in. If they line spears up at RDE along with a right overload with Davis/Berriault as a threatening blitzer, then if they try to block Spears with just a Guard he's going to get penitration up the middle causing the QB to drop back deeper, and since Ware will always be able to get deep, there's nowhere to run.

And God forbid if we overload the right side and send RW on a right side blitz or even a RCB.

Something else I just noticed. On the drive following that fumble, when Seattle marched right down the field to score a TD, Madden pointed out that Jones was blocking Ware - but what he didn't mention is that we were running a base 4 - 3 and Ware was playing DE on that entire drive. Ware is much quicker when he starts standing IMO. I know the following drive we were back to the 3 - 4 because Ware was playing OLB when he covered the TE out of the slot and intercepted the ball. So while that drive looked bad, it was likely just Parcells experimenting with different schemes and personnel.

I thought they were in a 3-4 on that sack fumble play.

They were. They were 3 - 4 on the sack fumble. Then the following drive Seattle got the ball and marched right down the field for a TD. On that drive Ware was playing DE in the 4 - 3. Then the following drive it was back to the 3 - 4 and Ware picked the pass intended for the TE.

I wonder why BP refused to come out of a 3-4/ 4-3 when it was obvious that Seattle was running 3 and 4 WR sets?

you guys dont like ray lewis's enthusiasm? he gets a little carried away sometimes but Ide have 0 problem having him or a guy like him on our team. I personally think he makes players better then they were going to be because he gets everyone so fired up. I also dont think he does it disrespectively like say Moss did when he wiped his butt on the pole.

That's true... and it's a refreshing thing, isn't it?

If I were a world class athlete just starting at a major college, or in the NFL... I would make sure to simply hand the ball to the ref when I scored, or just walk back to the defensive huddle after a sack.

They pound their chest and strike poses in order to get noticed. Well guess what? Everyone does it now, so if you do it... you blend in.

By being humble about it you would stick out. QUOTE]

Excellent point :)

Call me classless, but I kind of like guys like that, like Michael Irvin and Deion Sanders and Ray Lewis. It shows a real fire and determination on their part.

Agree, as long as it is not showing up your opponent or it causes penalties. This is still a game.

16 forced fumbles, 80 QB hurrys and 16 sacks. Wow, I remember back when preseason didn't mean anything, you know, back to last week. We all loved what we saw in Ware but get a grip.

Okay maybe I went a little over board, but at where he's lining up in the 3-4 to rush the passer because of his quick first step, his explosive speed and power, it's going to be hard to contain him all game long.

Now if you ask him to lineup in a 4-3 down linemen position, he will truly struggle.
