The Most Overrated Team in the NFL is...

I said that there defense is the only thing I admire about them. Jake Delhomme is not a top 5 QB, If he is a top 5 QB Drew Bledsoe should be also because last time I checked there stats very very similar.......this team doesnt even have a RB......3 years ago....that was 3 years ago....The Eagles went 2 years ago? so what.....John Fox is a good head coach......I live in SC and I watched every single game they played last year and I just dont see what everyone see about them.....they are a well-balanced team but surely is not the team to beat next year.

I live North of Charlotte and see the same things.

People that dont get to see as much coverage of the Panthers put them on a higher level.

Most Panthers fans I know, are 2 bad plays away from calling for Delhomme's head.

In all fairness they drafted one of the best available RBs.

But that OL still has needs, that LB corps is still missing their best player, the secondary is average, they lost Buckner who was one of the players that made their DL feared, etc., etc..

I think Seattle is the most over-rated team currently. Sure they made it to the Superbowl, but they did it by playing an easy schedule in a weak division. They were very beatable, and they don't scare anyone.

Holmgren's clock management at the end of both halves in the Superbowl is good evidence that he is pretty over-rated, too.

Yet they nearly swept the NFC East this past season on their way to the SB (3-1). And then made up for their one loss by beating the Commanders in the playoffs.

Hmmm...

They also nearly lost to the Cowboys (bogus picked up flag) and the Giants (missed FGs) I believe both those games were in their house. On the road, that would probably be a little different.

EXACTLY!!! I have watched every game and I have buddys in Charlotte they are true Panther fans and alll I hear them talk about is how much they hate Jake Delhomme and hoe is a big time mess up and i see it myself because like I Said I follow everyone of there games.

I would have to go with the Atlanta Falcons as the most overrated, they also have the most overrated player!!! I would also say Tom Brady is one of the most underrated players in the league, how a QB with 3 rings can be called just average is beyond me. I would take him over anyone to be behind center in Big D!!!!

As stated before, were it not for Jose Cortez (and also Bledsoe) and Jay Feely, they would have lost both contest. They don't impress me.

They had some great surprises with their rookie LBers, but losing Hutchinson will hurt. I don't see a repeat. In fact, I wouldn't be shocked if they don't even win their division this time around. If Hasselbeck gets hurt, they are finished.

Please do not forget the back judge picking up the holding flag on Witten in the end zone....that STILL irks me more than any FG.

Maybe you should read what he actually said moron.

He said Bledsoe was one of the best QBs in the NFL when Flo went down. Bledsoe may have been productive but to call him one of the best in the NFL is absurd. That's just plain homer-drivel.

It's funny how most Cowboy fans over look the glaring weakness on your squad, and downplay the Commanders moves to strengthen their main weakness last year - a pitiful WR corps. It should be a very interesting season. God I love this rivalry!

Change of topic: Who do you hate more: Skins or Iggles?

Neither ... cuz you're both nothing more than 2 games each on our schedule.

Hate would infer we care ... Skins hate us for dominating them for 9 years. Iggles hate us for keeping them out of the Super Bowl in the 90's.

No that is factual he was statistically the top QB when Flo went down

and its amusing how you downplay the Cowboys improvments to our weaknesses while trying to upgrade your team.

Eagles, because they have been winning while we weren't. The Skins have been nothing but a speedbump on the schedule for about 8 years

the New England Patriots!!!

There was an earlier thread about the most overrated coach in the NFL being Bill Bilichick. Part II of that thread focuses on the Patriots as a team. For the last 5 years, most prognosticators have picked the Patriots to win the SuperBowl and with good reason. They won 3 out of 4 SuperBowls while tying the same mark held by our beloved Cowboys.

Currently, the Patriots are a much different team than they were during their Superbowl run. Sure, they still have Tom Brady who is an above average QB, but he is also overrated. However, they have lost the prolific coaching staff that Bilichick inherited from Bill Parcells. They have also lost several of their star players and veteran leaders including Ty Law, Willie McGinist, and Adam Vinatieri.

In my humble opinion, Vinatieri was their true MVP, not Brady. It was Vinatieri who kicked the winning field goal in several of their playoff and SuperBowl victories because Brady couldn't lead them into the endzone. And what do the Patriots do this offseason but let him walk right into the waiting arms of their chief rival, the Colts.

I said it here last year and I'm saying it again this year: Stick a fork in the Patriots because they are DONE!! Every year they fail to make a deep run in the playoffs will only futher underscore how much Parcells contributed to Bilichick's success. That means the Cowboys will play the Colts in the SuperBowl baby!!

I dont know about you but I would love to be overrated like the Pats have been the last 5-6 years or so:rolleyes:.... THAT would have meant our 2nd Hat Trick :D

I agree that the Patriots are done, but not really along the same line of reasoning (overall).

Add to your list the Panthers.
Yeah and I guess those last two times we got beat by them in the playoffs were because we were overrated. :bang2:

Come on, seriously. Tony Banks was the best QB in the league for a 5 game stretch under Schottenheimer, so what?

Here's why - the Commanders glaring need was receiver correct? They went out and got the most sought after WR in Randel-El. Did they "overpay" maybe, who knows, but he's a vast improvement. They got Brandon Lloyd who Cowboy fans should be quite familiar with. He has been known to make the spectacular catch while missing an easy one. Both have great potential - they are 26 and 24 respectively. They are in or entering their prime. The guys the Cowboys brought in are well past 30. Fabini is 32(?) Rivera is what 33 and has had health issues. Skins fans know all too well what happens when players are brought in past their prime. Flo is coming off a major knee injury - I know he is up and looks 100% but knees on 320lb linemen can be problematic.

So which hurt more 14-13 or 35-7 with the playoffs on the line? Ouch.

One final word - the Commanders showed heart last year when the Cowboys quit. That is the BIGGEST reason for my optimism.

I have not read the entire thread yet, but if you are implying that the Seattle team is overrated I concur completely.

They are a very unimpressive or scary team. I know they played in the Superbowl and kudos to them. They are lucky that the NFC was at an all time low.

If they make a repeat appearance in the Super Bowl or even a respectable Championship game, I will probably change my tune. Call me unimpressed.

pittsburgh by far- they have to be the worse SB winner ever. Big Ben is overrated- just check his stats in the SB- they got hot and got lucky. Won't happen again.

So what? The the point the other poster made was correct and the Commander fan did not read his staement clearly before spouting off

Both tackles last season (Tucker and Petitti) gave up 25 sacks, one is gone the other will be a backup. Flozell gave up 2 sacks in 6 games that equals about 5-6 for the season lets add some and say 8, last time Fabini played RT he gave up 4.5 sacks I will double that and say 9,

That is 17 sacks instead of 25 see an upgrade?

So which hurt more 14-13 or 35-7 with the playoffs on the line? Ouch.

Neither, first game was so early in the season it didnt matter, second game with our OLine depleted and half our LBs on IR playoffs were a mere fantasy anyway.

Cowboys quit? when was this? Unless you are talking about the last game against St Louis when we had no shot at playoffs, at that point all teams quit.

One final word - the Commanders showed heart last year when the Cowboys quit. That is the BIGGEST reason for my optimism.[/quote]

I hate to be a Ben R apologist, but you point to a single Super Bowl game to knock Ben R. You are not alone when you do so, I have seen others do it as well.

No one ever points out his QB rating the three previous road playoff games to even get to the Superbowl: 148.7, 95.3, and 124.9.

The guy is only in his second season removed from playing for the mighty Miami of Ohio. Maybe the Super Bowl got to him a little. I for one though will give him some credit.

The Detroit Lions.

They have evidently been running around giving people the impression that they are an actual NFL team!

Alright "Troll Slayer" your turn to try reading: My point is even thinking Bledsoe is one of the best QBs in the league is absurd - which is exactly what was written. I am not here saying Brunnel was one of the best, even though they had similar numbers. Come on, now.

That's pretty optimistic considering you added a mediocre guard in Kosier. Fabini was let go from the Jets for performance reasons according to the Jets camp. And you still don't know how Flo's knee is going to hold up. I will grant you if it does - he is a big boost. But it's a question mark, is it not?

OK that was funny, like you weren't red-faced-p.o.-ed.

Yes - they were 7-3 and finished 2-4. The Commanders were 5-6 and finished 5-0. Which do you call showing heart and which to you call quitting?

Again, the Commanders showed heart last year when the Cowboys quit. That is the BIGGEST reason for my optimism.

Actually, the Commanders got healthy while the Cowboys continued to hemhorrage LBs...

but spin it however you want.:)
