I hate the week before the first game because this is where we get about 99.5% of Jerry Jones's statements about a player's health that are actually true statements. Now he has no choice.

There's already a pretty hefty amount of talent that won't be available for game #1. It's bad news.

Traditionally, today begins the interval of time in we get the the really bad news. I call it the Nervous Week.

I've seen it. You've seen it too.

In 2010 I remember so many starting offensive linemen hurt that the Cowboys had to start a player that they just signed, a 1st round bust by the name of Alex Barron.

With three seconds left in game #1 against the Commanders, Tony Romo threw a TD to Roy Williams that would have won the game 14-13 with the extra kick. However, Barron was flagged for Offensive Holding. Not only did it erase the TD, it took the last three seconds off the clock and the Cowboy lost. The Cowboys would go on to lose six of their next seven games. They lost Tony Romo in game #6.

That, in turned, trickled down to the firing of Wade Phillips and the hiring of Jason Garrett.

I hope I'm not making anybody nervous. I just needed to get that off my chest. Thanks.

Don't be too hard on yourself, lad.
As I read your existentialist mea culpa, I could not get the song

Blimey, relax.

Just assume they are going to lose. The worst thing that can happen is you are right. The best thing that could happen is a pleasant surprise win. That's how I approach all games where we are +7.5 pt. underdogs.
I would rather stick my face in a latrine than think like that.

The home team is like 15-1 in this game.

Something ridiculous like that.

why be nervous we are underdogs? we are supposed to lose

what talent is missing game 1 for sure outside of Gallimore? am i missing something? don't say collins because thats not determined yet, so who else?this will be the healthiest we will be al year IMO..NFL odds says so..

IMO this will be the least nervous ill be all year as the expectation is loss..

look people realistically we are picked to lose this game by just about every opinion you ask.we drew the single toughest game 1 you can have on the road to humid outdoor stadium against the defending SB camps returning 100% of their starters..

so lets hope to not get embarrassed, fight until the final second, and hope it was competitive. Just a good tune-up and a way for our coaches to truly see where we are at as team..could be a blessing in disguise even with loss..
rather have this then false sense of how good we are with the 3-0 creampuff schedule in 2019 to finish playing hard teams in rough environments and falling flat on our face..game 1 tests is best..see how you stack up make adjustments with the best team you will face all year..pull the band aide and let it fly..

kid of like getting to take SATS pre tests and study for the real deal :))

exactly,

why be nervous? we are supposed to lose, underdog in this situation..

nah i dont agree with papdog ever but game 2 is far more daunting as must win early as the bucs most likely a loss..

The only nervousing I do involving the Cowboys is usually toward the end of another pizz pour season…and it always involves worrying if Booger will be smart enough to fire the current boob at HC….and then nervousing over if he will make the best choice…which we all know will never happen again.

I love the feeling ahead of the games without that feeling it would not be worth watching. It is the nervousness and anxiety that only sports brings out in me. As for the outcome I learned a long time ago by playing sports and watching sports that losing is always a possible outcome and you deal with it and as a player you hope to learn from it. The feeling after a win is always special then I come here and see people down playing any win and wonder why some even bother

We gotta win our division games.....which we didn't do last year....and we will be fine.

By fine I mean a home playoff game and be playing good ball at that time.

I dont expect to be all that great to begin with, and once the talking heads write us off, we have a shot.

Plastic, as long as you and I have been Cowboys fans, there are two guarantees we can easily make about this game:
  1. Jerry will talk- a lot. Before the game, maybe do a halftime interview, then talk a lot- win or lose- after the game. If we win, he will probably have a happy cry, if we lose, it will be a “moral victory”, lol.
  2. This forum will blow up next Thursday- win or lose. Some fans will write this team off after the first 3 and out. If we win, others will post super bowl guarantee threads after the game.
Bottom line- it’s going to be fun! We’re finally getting some real football that means something! Go Cowboys!
