The NFC East is quickly becoming a power house, The Giants and Commanders are pushing hard with Big names and proved last year there a reckon to deal with. The Eagles will get over the TO issue and compete again this year.
The cowboys could easily be in the back of the pack again.

The cowboys have more needs than most will admit, but will Jerry and Bill get tight with money in FA. Get some game changing players or just role players. I dont like T.O. But watching what other NFC East teams are signing and who they are trying to get make me think the Cowboys need more game changing players not role players.

The Cowboys were competetive in most of the games they played last year. (many of them nail bitters)

Q: what do they need to overcome those nail bitting situations and become the dominate team again.

:skins:

The Commanders are pushin hard for big names they cant afford. Big deal.

They are reportedly interested in EVERY fa every season, who cares?

Giants sign a washed up Nickel Back corner with a big cap, congrats!

Eagles make Bentley(a stud) the most overpaid C in the league. If they use him at G it will be worth their money, but at C, that's just way more than you pay.

Big deal... Last time I looked:

Best LB: Peterson, Witherspoon,Ayodele were still FA
Best WR: T.O, Givens, Randel El are still FA.
Best OL: Hutchinson is still a FA.
Best K: Viniteiri, Vanderjagt, Longwell, Bryant were still FA.
Best RB: Edge was still a FA.
Best QB: Brees, Culpepper(kinda) are still FA.

The best players that were available BEFORE fa started, are still there, minus one.

Big deal

Giants signed Sam Madison. They're reportedly in the Arrington sweepstakes.

Eagles have been linked to some other names.

Commanders are warming up the plane and going hard to fill some holes.

Hopefully, those rumors are true about the Cowboys at least trying to grab a Mawae or Fabini. Really more than anything I want to see that offensive line worked on.

Bring in the game changing players, the Ray Lewis's, T.O's Randy Moss's., Not those particular players But a PLAYER a game changer. The old Cowboys went out and Got Charles Haley, Dion Sanders. Those were game changers, thats what the Cowboy are missing the Team is full of role players not game changers. I.E Michael Vick

This is the type of knee-jerk reaction that we don't need. Other teams throw around money on big names that might not even fit their current system. Remember Bruce Smith and the rest of the millionaire club Snyder created. How many SBs did all that money win again?

JJ always makes his decision late in the FA game. Sometimes it the right answer, sometimes it's the not so right answer. Let JJ and BP do their homework, put the right dollar amount on the right player, and let's make a DYNASTY....not a make it or break it system.

Madison - Yeah, we knew that last night. Nothing special.

Arrington - Still not signed.

Commanders - Please, they're wasting their money on jet fuel.

This was my point, nothing has really happened.

what players like those you mentioned are on the Patriots or Steelers?

the model for how to win is right there, not with a severe case of "big name-itis"

OVERRATED- the next Super Bowl Champion does not reside in the NFC East. Book it.
So in other words, you predict that the next superbowl champ will be from a group making up 88% of the league (non-NFCE teams). Bold.

The Washington Post full atricle
(reg. req)

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/03/10/AR2006031001748.html

Here are the highlights

The Washington Commanders began pursuing several free agents last night as the market officially opened at 12:01 a.m., and also were working to acquire restricted free agent wide receiver Brandon Lloyd from the San Francisco 49ers, according to several league sources.

Defensive end Andre Carter (San Francisco), defensive tackle Maake Kemoeatu (Baltimore), safety Adam Archuleta (St. Louis) and quarterback Todd Collins (Kansas City) were expected to draw strong interest from Washington as soon as the market opened...

.... and league sources believe wide receiver Antwaan Randle El (Pittsburgh), defensive end Darren Howard (New Orleans) and a cornerback like Andre Dyson (Seattle) could be contacted as well.

The Commanders have had no recent discussions with starting tight end Robert Royal, another free agent, and two league sources said Washington is pursuing blocking tight ends to fill his role. Royal has received significant interest from Buffalo, according to league sources, and he said last night that he is leaving all options open. The Commanders have contacted the agent for unrestricted free agent tight end Dan Campbell, according to a source with knowledge of the situation. Justin Peelle (San Diego) and Marcellus Rivers (Houston) are other tight ends league sources suspect could interest Washington....

... The Commanders were not poised to be a major player for linebackers Ben Leber (San Diego), Julian Peterson (San Francisco) or Nick Greisen (New York Giants), according to representatives for players on the linebacker market. Defensive ends John Abraham (New York Jets) and Anthony Weaver (Baltimore) did not appear to be in the team's plans, either.

Ben Roethlisberger, Hines Ward, Alan Faneca, Joey Porter, Troy Polamalu... just to name a few

The Steelers did that through good drafting but we haven't had the luxury of a Parcells controlled draft for that long, and he screwed up his second one.

Sometimes, if a freak free agent like LeCharles Bentley pops out of nowhere, you've gotta go full steam and sign him. Cowboys did that with Henry last year and it was a terrific signing.

wow -- the Giants jump in and sign guys who were cut because they were not as productive as they should have been and they are part of a "powerhouse" division now?

it isn't about signing just anyone. it is about signing the right guys.

its not about breaking the bank on some old super hero. Its not about signing every Tom Dick and Harry and its not about the SKY falling.

The Cowboys do not have a game changer. Who is the visiting team scared to throw at? What WR is scared to go across the middle and why? Who could break the run and go for a TD on any given play.

I'm not saying we need'em all, I dont think we have any. We have good role players and some who may develop into game changers. The Cowboys need that game changer who the opposing team must plan around,
Ala Peyton Manning and Marvin Harrsion Spend the money on a game changer not multiple role players

Yes, I am, but the point I'm trying to make is the NFC East is overrated and not deserving of the praise of some posters and mediots. Since you want me to be more specific I'll go ahead and predict the Patriots will win it.

Even bolder. A team that won 3 of the last 5 super bowls. ;)

Seriously though, when I look at the NFC there is only one other division that can compare to the East, the NFC South. You could make the argument that most of those teams are overrated though.
