The New Stadium-What Worked, What Can Be Done Better?

Keeping the roof closed might have saved the Cowboys. We've seen this team fall apart at home in cold weather (Ravens last year and against the Eagles twice) and it looked like the indoor "heat" got to the Eagles and wore them out in both games this season.

The Cowboys need some better in-game entertainment though. I agree, use the video boards to get the crowd more involved and louder. NFL rules state that the PA guy can't be a "cheerleader" like they are in the NBA so they'll have to use alternate methods. How about a wolf howling sound byte whenever DeMarcus Ware gets a sack? I remember the Dallas Desperados used to do that and it got the crowd into it.

Perhaps some better music choice? Especially after touchdowns. We need some songs that will keep the crowd rockin up until the following kickoff. They celebrate the TD and extra point but after that, it goes back to the same noise level.

We need some more TRADITIONS. Something distinct, I like how Seattle raises their 12th man flag before every game, that's pretty cool. New stadium, now is the perfect time to implement some Cowboys home traditions that will carry over forever. There's such a big emphasis on the star at midfield and how "sacred" it is, how about every game we get a special guest (can be a former Cowboy, local Texas celebrity, etc.) to come out to midfield and slam the ball on the 50 yard line (like how Emmitt did in response to TO in the infamous game) to start the pregame intros off? This could kinda be like Florida State's mascot putting the flaming spear into the grass

Or we should take a page out of Nebraska's book and do a Tunnel Walk for pregame introductions. It makes sense with the huge video boards and the players passing through the fan lounge on the way to the field. That would really be epic.

There's SO much more this organization can do to create a storied atmosphere at games instead of dancing cheerleaders in cages on the endzone plazas

The glass actually does have some tint on it, and "green laws" these days require there to be some natural sunlight in buildings. I absolutely loved the sunlight coming into the stadium.

Here are some pics that I took before the kickoff of the playoff game.

I'd be surprised to see that a law like that effect something like a football stadium.

My concern is that we've already seen drops this year simply because the receiver was blinded by the sun. This topic has come up before and the vast majority of people on here don't see it as a big deal.

It won't be a big deal until we lose a game because of it.

It just simply makes no sense to have it the way it is now.

Don't they have a giant curtain?

I think Jerry is going to try and play the system with the curtain. If he thinks sunlight will effect Dallas in the 2nd half of a game, he will close the curtains before the game.

If he doesn't think so, he will leave them open in an attempt to blind the opposition.

My only experience in Texas stadium by all accounts was one of the loudest games there in recent memory. It was truly an unforgettable experience, but that being said....I've always liked the way a good chant can get a crowd pumped up. They make the patron, season ticket holder or first timer, feel more involved.

The best stadium experience I've ever been apart of is at the Verizon Center in DC. Washington Capitals games are amazing. They use the video boards with amazing effectiveness in getting the crowd involved. It seems like everyone is giving 100%. They even have their own particular fans (i.e. Crazy Ray or the Jets' Fireman) that are used to get chants going. It's unreal.

I'd love to hear this in Cowboys Stadium. I doubt it will happen, but if it did, it would be amazing with that facility.
Texas don't know how to rock the Red.

I think whoever runs the video board needs to have quite a bit more crowd interaction stuff. Blazers game in the Rose Garden are insanely loud because the crowd over time has been trained how to give the home team an advantage. The packers have that cool guitar riff and the crowd chants Go Pack Go! We need more stuff like that to get the crowd amped up.

I would like to see a better setup with a score board that gave you the down and distance. I love the big screen they have but the down and distance and score only being shown on the screens below the upper seat levels and hard to pick up at times.

Could not agree more!!
A little spot on the big screen would be great.

We need less complaining about the Miller Lite pole-dancers. I went to one game this year (San Diego) and for the life of me I can't understand how any red-blooded heterosexual male could complain about such a thing.

If anything, we need more of 'em. Pepsi dancers, Ford dancers, AT&T dancers... c'mon Jerry, let those sponsors earn it! :D

I was about to say.. I always sat in the cheap seats at Texas Stadium and the fans were always loud/rowdy.

The only way to improve that sort of thing is to axe season tickets and lower prices. But that won't happen

Ummmm.... no such animal!

 I put "green laws" in quotes for a reason...

They are more like guidelines from the U.S. Department of Energy for commercial buildings.

The idea is to protect the environment by allowing in more natural light for both lighting and temperature control to cut down on power and energy requirements (though I admit you don't need the extra heat for 10 months out of the year in Texas).

Here is the link...

Notice I said "I think"?

No powers of prognostication needed to express an opinion. Lack of reading comprehension powers needed to chime in the way you did.

How would Jerry know which team was going in what direction? No way in hell the NFL is going to let him close a curtain after the coin toss. Crystal ball?

I may not be correct but I thought he had to make the choice to have them open or close prior to game time. I don't see why it couldn't be 5 minutes before the game or 5 hours before the game.

In any event, saying "I think" has always represented an opinion and always will. I may be assuming wrong but in no way am I fortune telling.

Really, what the hell does it matter? I think its a genius move.

They need to get rid of the down escalators after the game. My dad nearly got trampled because there is such a log jam switching between them.
