The NFC-East is Truly a Beast in 2006

Even the Washington Commanders is a team with talent and tenacity. While the Giants won the last meeting of the two teams, it was only a 6-point differential. The Skins only need a few tweaks on both sides of the ball before they contend up to par.

In the meantime, the Eagles, Cowboys and Giants have all made the playoffs (wouldn't it have been incredible if all 4 teams to have made the playoffs ...has it ever been done before, ...would it have been a precedence?).

Tiki Barber was quoted on ESPN as saying ..."he wants the Cowboys more than the Eagles."

Many (not all) fans here would like to see a third Eagles Cowboys game.

I'd like to to win our next game against the Falcons and let whatever happens unfold.

The only question that remains is ...who will earn the NFC-East Title going into in this Beast of the East, highly competitive 2006 post-season.

I'll admit, the 2005 season Humbled me Up greatly. So going into this last game of the regular season, this is the first time this year that I'm sayIng this ...

Let's do this Eagles ...come get some!:)

well put, i still want the division title though!

Very understandable objective. Tiki Barber and the Giants won a convincing 34-28 victory over a hard fighting Commanders. The NFC-East has truly elevated our respective team's level of play.

I see no reason why at least one of us shouldn't come out as NFC Champs!

I watched that game- it was ANYTHING but a convincing victory. Tiki won that game- the G D just stank it up. And the Skin D looked worse. Campbell got very little pressure so its not like he was really tested. Sheli did not impress either.

Barber played well but the Skins run D looked much like the Colts. Missed tackle after missed tackle.

Don't expect the Skins to contend next season. Our defense is as bad as it gets and I don't think one offseason is enough to fix it. Jason Campbell does give us up hope with all Steve McNair and Donvon McNabb esque plays he makes but our offense has been nothing but amazing the past few weeks and we still lose.

No D in Washington, no chance in 2007.

Commanders fought hard at points and in places. They can't freaking tackle. They can't stop the run -- that didn't change much from start to finish.

No offense but FWIW I'm not at all convinced of Campbell's arm. I know it's early but I just don't think he's consistently accurate.

He's doing as good as any QB did in his first seven starts. Look up Carson Palmer, Donvon McNabb, Peyton Manning etc and their first year starting was as good or even worse than Jasons. Manning and Palmer struggled with turnovers and Jason didn't but they didn't struggle with accuracy like Jason. McNabb struggled with everything but as the seasons went on he got better and better.

QB's who get the oppurtunity to start in their first 2 seasons don't really put crazy numbers in every statistical categories.

All of this doesn't really matter because in the end the Skins defense will do everything possible to lose the game.

atleast Eli is a bust.

That's true, but at the same hand, we had such powerhouses as Marshall and Holdman in there. Marshall may be a starter again next year, but I doubt it, but there is no way Holdman would be back, he just sucks. You'll probably see McIntosh (who is turning out to be pretty good) as WLB, Marshall or some FA as MLB and Washington back at SLB. That should improve our run defense dramatically.
Gregg Williams also said that he's going to revamp the defense this next year, so it remains to be seen how good we'll be next year on D.

He's not, but you also have to look at who he's throwing to, Moss and Randle El. Those guys are burners and a lot faster (and smaller) then anyone he's ever thrown to, it's gotta be hard to figure out the lead amount for somebody that much faster. He doesn't have a problem hitting Cooley, Betts or Sellers reliably. An offseason of timing work and I think he'll be as accurate as anyone else.

Admittedly, I've spent a great deal of time focusing on other life sustaining skills such as ensuring my weapons were in mint condition, from windage sites down to the firing pin retaining pin, bolt cam pin, and barrels. I've listened to static-filled devices trying to pick up information from games in rain based, muddy, dirty stinking machine gun bunkers, staying warm in knowing that future NFL fans can ask me questions just like you just did.

Marshall has regressed, it's possible the 2005 campaign was him overachieving. We lucked out with Pierce coming in as an undrafted free agent and turning out to be a very good MLB. We tempted fate with Marshall. He hasn't been able to recognize and adjust the defense before the snap like he should, and he hasn't shed blockers consistently all season. We need a new MLB, I hear this year's draft will be full of them. Holdman is just a bum, he was a bum last season too. No one expected that McIntosh would take so long to get on the field, the coaching staff fully expected him to outplay Holdman in TC.

I don't trust anything G.Williams has to say. When he finally admits that Ryan Clark, Fred Smoot, and Antonio Pierce weren't all "replaceable", than I'll care about what he has to say.

This isn't a testament on how the east is a beast, it's testament on how awful the NFC is.

I agree with this and said so when that trade went down. I never would have made that move.

Not at all. Portis carried us into the playoffs. We did not miss Champ a bit after he left besides this season. Champ was pretty bad for the Broncos his first season and average last season.

Clinton Portis/Champ Bailey trade worked perfectly for both teams. The trade that really messed everything up was the third round pick for Mark Brunell or the third round pick for TJ Duckett.
