This is ridiculous. The referees are only slightly to blame.

The problem is a vague and ambiguous rule book the size of "War and Peace".

How can referees be expected to know rules that the league office, coaches, players, and 100 million fans don't understand.

Exactly, and really they need more refs per game, and go to replay when odd things happen , so they can take a look at something they missed.

Have to agree for the most part, but these refs have missed some blatantly obvious calls this year......Then add in the simple fact your got retired officials working as analyst for Fox and CBS and its all a big mess. Personally can't stand hearing from the so called expert Refs hiding behind the TV.

It seems like he Refs throw more flags during primetime games and give certain players more calls (Brady) while letting others get hung out to dry (Romo/Cam Newton).

I've beaten the table for full time refs for years. The NFL makes billions of dollars a year. It's just stupid that the dots haven't been connected to make this happen yet.

Then DEAN BLANDINO should be BANNED from the league

He said for Golden Tates catch this: "Golden Tates catch is different than the others because he was not going to the ground". He says this as the clip shows Golden Tate going to the ground LOL. I would have loved to see Tate hold that ball till he hit the ground and then the ball come out and them rule it an incompletion. LOL

I would love to see this catch compared to the Larry Donnell catch that was called incomplete on opening night.

The league has gone out of its way to make the rules more grey and fuzzy. It makes it easy for them to engineer the results they want. And the payoff for the league owners is growing as they now are raking in BILLIONS of money from FanDuels and Draftkings.

The league's credibility is gone. And Jerry is one of the center players in this charade. He helped usher in an era of rampant football gambling.

Hey 1,500+ pages of high quality ambiguity. BTW, I found the Cliff Notes to be rather tedious as well, over 200 pages.

I say we get those guys in here to rewrite the NFL Rule Book and call it NFL Rule Book for Dummies. Max it out at 150 pages.

It seems to me that a suspension without docking of pay is basically a vacation, unless it comes with some other issue like after your second one you're fired.

I don't care if it's completely the refs fault. I love it.

They need to hold them accountable for stupidity. I don't care what excuses the league office makes up, or anyone else. There are plenty of calls that they CLEARLY screw up and there is no excuse for them.

Any ref calling that Tate "catch" a TD is a moron who deserves to sit down a game or two without pay.

I think you are on to something with the FanDuel/Draftkings line. It's made to attract people to legitimized gambling on a larger scale in the comfort of their computer screen, or handheld device :):)

The NFL has enough money to have professional officials who are full time paid employees of the NFL.......there is no excuse for having a bunch of part timers officiating the game with the money the league makes.

If this was their only job, they would be forced to perform better ....... the NBA refs do not make blatant errors on calls near as much as the NFL and they do not get instant replay.

IMO, it isn't realistic to expect that they know every rule in the book. What they need to look at doing is having something similar to what they have for challenges/reviews. They could have two or three officials on hand (at the league office?) to help the on-field officials deal with unusual/complicated plays and stop play when they see a problem. I know it wouldn't be a perfect system, but apparently would be helpful in some cases. Apparently, Officials in NY knew that the batted ball that cost Detroit a game was illegal but was powerless at that moment to do anything about it. Had they simply buzzed the referee to stop play long enough to correct the on-field call, that particular incorrect call could have been avoided.

College has the review system down the best.

Lol, no there's just the argument that NBA officials are part of the fix because of it.

I haven't watched college ball in years, so I'm not familiar with their system. What have they implemented that's different from what the NFL has?

All reviews are booth initiated. When the booth official sees something on the monitor that's questionable he buzzes the head referee to stop play. Then the play is reviewed by the booth and they radio down to the ref what the call is. The official on the field doesn't go looking at a monitor it'll under the hood.

Those ads that you see all the time now...the vegas style approach to "fantasy football"?

There are two companies running them, DraftKings and FanDuel. Jerry Jones and Robert Kraft have big stakes in Draft Kings...helped launch it. The Cowboys now even have a "Draft Kings" lounge at the stadium and promote "Draft Kings" on their website.
