Aren't the refs just a bunch of lawyers and doctors with this as their side jobs?

I doubt the "fines" and "suspensions" are going to matter much.

All reviews are booth initiated. When the booth official sees something on the monitor that's questionable he buzzes the head referee to stop play. Then the play is reviewed by the booth and they radio down to the ref what the call is. The official on the field doesn't go looking at a monitor it'll under the hood.

That does seem much better. Fewer moving parts, less opportunity for miscommunication. Thanks for the info.

Those ads that you see all the time now...the vegas style approach to "fantasy football"?

There are two companies running them, DraftKings and FanDuel. Jerry Jones and Robert Kraft have big stakes in Draft Kings...helped launch it. The Cowboys now even have a "Draft Kings" lounge at the stadium and promote "Draft Kings" on their website.

Eilers Research, which studies the industry, estimates that daily games will generate around $2.6 billion in entry fees this year and grow 41 percent annually, reaching $14.4 billion in 2020.

Wow unreal... Did not know JJ had big stakes in these companies. I can understand him changing the game for his endorsement deals but never would I expect him to sellout to gambling. Of course that's going to alter how games are called when money is on the line. Nothing but bad comes from this. There should be some rules/laws that owners can not be involved in gambling

We are suppose to have faith in a discipline system built by the same people that elevated Jeff Tripplette to a head official? Please. If he isn't fired after week 1 we will know it's a farce.

It's a huge deal. Gambling addiction is BY FAR the fastest growing addiction in America. I encourage any and all to do some googling. The cost to our society is comparable to the costs of cancer. Statistics also show that HALF of what are called pathological gamblers will steal or commit other crimes in order to pay immediate debt and keep on gambling. HALF! Studies also show that where casual gambling is encouraged and accessible the rate of addiction will triple.

I don't care if it's completely the refs fault. I love it.

They need to hold them accountable for stupidity. I don't care what excuses the league office makes up, or anyone else. There are plenty of calls that they CLEARLY screw up and there is no excuse for them.

Any ref calling that Tate "catch" a TD is a moron who deserves to sit down a game or two without pay.

I suspect punishment will be more about blown rules like slapping the ball out of the back of the end zone than judgement calls like catches
Refs are human so they are gonna miss calls
What there is no excuse for is not applying the rules correctly and not getting replays correct
