That 1989 season was my first season really watching football as a kid. I was 10 years old and finally started to understand the game enough to have interest. At the time, I never put together just how bad the Cowboys were. Thinking back on it, it just seemed like we could compete for about a quarter or two and then our wheels would go shooting off.

Oh and I still remember that Washington win that season. I was so excited I was bouncing off the damn walls. :D

as bad as 1989 was at 1-15, Landry's last season in 1988 (the 3-13 team) might have been worse

is that 1-15?

i loved that season. i wore my jersey that was far from official but was blue and had a star and some numbers on it....

i remember so clearly that if there was any 1 game i'd love to win even if we won nothing else - that was the game we won - washington.

before long johson and jones came along, landry was out, and holy hell...a whole new generation we talk about today in a whole new fashion.

makes you wonder what's next, doesn't it?

I remember both......

The "89" made angry.

The "60" I was just happy Dallas had a NFL Team.

Yup, 1-15. One of my earliest Cowboys memories was going to a Cowboys vs Oilers pre-season game in I think 1988. We lost like 54-10. I didn't understand what was going on, but I had a good time. Oh and I remember chants for Sweeney. Then my next Cowboys memeory is the Channel 8 tribute to Tom Landry when he was fired by Jerry Jones and feeling sad even though I wasn't real sure why.

Oh and that Washington win was such greatness. I remember hearing stories about them painting their lockerroom wall with the number 1-15 just so they'd be reminded that they were the 1. :D I would think it would be more demoralizing than motivational, but hey, I'm not a Commander.

I actually paid to go to a couple of games that year. Let's just say it was far more entertaining to talk to the cheerleaders than it was watching the game. We bought the cheapest seats available and were able to actually sit right in the first row next to the field on the 40 yard line because it was so empty in the stadium that we just moved down there after the first quarter.

Exact same situation with me. I started watching in 89, when I was ten and just starting appreciate football. I picked a bad time to start watching...but I haven't looked back since.

I was 6 in 1989 and we were living in Brazil but I remember having my Hutch player Cowboy uniform with a plastic helmet and spandex pants and jersey that had Danny White's number 11 on it.

One thing they pointed out on the countdown was that the Buccaneer on their logo was actually winking. I had no idea. I guess I never looked that close.

The most FABULOUS uniforms the league has ever known, Ernest Givens always wanted to be a Buc for that very reason:D

Either that or he had something in his eye.

It's bad enough that it's that horrible color of creamsickle, but the dude is friggin winking at me. He's a creamsickle buccaneer with flowing locks...and he's winking at me. Oh no. Not for football. No no no.

Well the Bucs were known to bend over and take it back then.

I'll probably get in trouble for this one.:D

Well, if the Buccaneer did have something in his eye causing him to wink, I have an idea what it could be.

I should stop there. :D
