The Offense Against Chicago

For those of you who are more knowledgeable about the X's and O's, what did Chicago do against us that limited the offense to 14 points compared to how potent the offense has been against what I thought were better defenses in Philly and GB? Was it just not being able to get over all of the injuries? Not adjusting to losing CeeDee so soon? I know we had some bad turnovers but I'm just curious if the Chicago defense did anything noteworthy that other teams haven't done that we need to watch out for in future weeks.

It wasn't as much what Chicago's defense did as it was their offense.
They grabbed the momentum early, and Dak shut down, like Dak does.
That's what kills the Cowboys offense.

This offense is focused on balance and efficiency to set up chunk plays down the field. When you're down by multiple scores at the half it really makes it difficult to execute as balance starts to pack up and leave the stadium early. The Cowboys offense really wasn't that bad early on. They put up 14 in the 1st half even with the early turnover. Even coming out of the half it wasn't a horrible opening drive until the sack just killed any momentum. The defense followed that up giving the Bears a 19...yes 19 play drive for a TD, and now you're completely forced to throw the football.

The best way to beat the Cowboys offense is really to beat the Cowboys defense.

Thanks. That's what I thought but wasn't sure if there was something more technical Chicago was doing.

The good news about these early injuries is that since everyone should come back everyone should have confidence in being able to execute with anyone on the offensive roster playing. Definitely couldn't say that in prior years.

The fumble killed us and …

I feel like they had no idea what the heck to do when CeeDee got hurt. He’s such an integral part of our game plane and you don’t plan on your best play maker to essentially miss the whole game.

They had to take a week and figure it out. At least that’s what I hope.

This here. I think so much had to happen we had to start getting the ball out quicker, offensive line changes, promoting Flurnoy…..a lot had to happen.

Believe it or not, I think Shotty was still trying to figure out how to run the playbook. The offense ran through CeeDee Lamb it seemed. When he went down, there was no Plan B in the works.
It also didn’t help for the defense to fail early in game. Offense had to start playing comeback double digits..
In a weird kind of way, it’s a blessing. Lamb went down so that Pickens, Flournoy, could gel together.
Shotty seems to have found a sweet spot running offense utilizing everyone with run game.
When CD comes back, it could be something special.

The fumble was big, but everyone is forgetting Picken's drop of a Dak pass that was in his hands, dropped, and turned into an interception. Dak forced the last interception. If it wasn't for those TOs, it easily could have been a 31-point day.

That was huge game swinger.

Dak sank back into his dink/dunk mode, simple. But Schotty got him back to being aggressive the next game.

The last interception was 4th down. They had 3rd and 1 & 4th and 1 at the goal-line and threw on both downs.
