The one move that may have brought me back (Kupp) was an illusion

$15 million a year for Kupp was a no go
I agree. A 15 million second WR is not worth it if we can’t run the ball or stop the run. I’d rather see that money go to the trenches. Particularly a better Guard or DT. Cooper Kupp isn’t going to be a needle mover for this team.

Was an illusion. All the reports that had Dallas signing Kupp yesterday vanished when Seattle picked him up.
Jethro and his stupid son could have had me with that one. But no, they spent their money on Dante and were not going to pony up any more inheritance money for Cooper. The wide receiver room is still one man. Aside from Lamb we have nothing. Get Tyler Warren in the draft. Do something that will have a real impact. JAGs be just that, JAGs. and OBTW, DLaw is correct. Lump of coal, and no SB, not even a playoff run is in the future.
The only way I see this team having any hope is by somehow selecting Abdul Carter or Ashton Jeanty. Outside of that, I don't see any other player who could make an impact, who could stop the Cowboys' free fall.

In 2021, Campbell showcased his potential as a deep threat, averaging 16.2 yards per reception. The Ohio State product has not managed to replicate that production since, and it will be interesting to see how large of an opportunity he receives with the Cowboys. CeeDee Lamb will lead the way at the WR position for years to come, but questions remain about the potential of the likes of Jonathan Mingo, Jalen Tolbert and recent re-signing KaVontae Turpin (who will primarily remain a returner moving forward, but could see his offensive usage continue to increase).

This sets the variety of supporting types that now indcludes Campbell.

To get a game changer at #2 receiver, the money needed would push out of the receiver group money. This would over load the positional total cap view, unless it was gained by a first round drafted receiver. This would push cap controlling expansion for an extra year. This means a very top level drafted player in the first round.

Stephen wants badly, a homerun hitter at receiver in the 1st round.

it was dallas marketing dept. doing its job. keeping fans interested. we were never going to sign Kupp. he cost above 10M and that's where jones draw the line on FA signings

Seattle is spending money to at least TRY to compete for the division.....is Dallas doing that?

Easy choice for Kuppage
Spending money on washed up players makes a team trying to compete? Over a team filling holes, And getting, or trying to get better in the draft. For long term success.

They send their QB that got them to the playoffs to another team, and spend more money to sign a one year hit wonder as they QB.

I do not like the way Dallas is approaching, or have approached things, but they are doing better than they have been.
Just because they don't sign every big name FA the media links to them. As we know that always happens. And have meltdowns. Great for some laughs.

As they should draw that line in 98% of the cases.
Do you really think Krupp is the difference maker?

As if they did sign Krupp, you and the others complaining about it would say, Jerry is stupid, why pay him that much money, with our QB situation.

You see that contract? Not at that rate Xavier Restrapo in the draft is literally the same type player less polished but creates separation

In fact there are several receivers I hope they take serious look at

How about Parris Campbell?
That signing is, in a nutshell, the epitome of the FO’s Ineptitude. We now have Mingo and Campbell and Tolbert to partner with CeeDee. All Less than JAGs. Although I kinda like Tolbert. He is not dominant but he did show some ability

Parris Campbell on your list? In a nutshell, the epitome of the fecklessness of the FO. We now have Mingo, Campbell and Tolbert teaming up with CeeDee. Awful. Mingo and Campbell are talentless. Tolbert showed me that he has some game. He made some really good catches last year. I don’t think he is a legitimate 2, but might be OK in the slot or as a third option.
I want Tyler Warren in the draft. He is an awesome football player. That might bring me back.

Kupp is toast.
He was never fast and is now just straight up slow.
He is a good underneath option like late career Cole Beasley but that's a 5M AAV part-time WR that eats on 3rd down.

Dallas got saved from itself here when Cooper chose to stay on the west coast and in the NFCW.

And yet, here you are.
You are correct, Sir. My sticking around the Zone is less about my loss of faith in the Cowboys organization and more about my enjoyment of hearing from and contributing to the conversations.
I promise you, that after 60 years of being an ardent, dyed in the wool, fan of the Pokes, I am now just an observer. I was fortunate to attend all three Super Bowl wins in the nineties. That was a very long time ago. And the true nature of the ownership and FO appeared. It’s been 30 years of mediocrity and disappointment. It is difficult to to be inspired to root for a team whose owner cares not about the quality of the team or its performance on the field. If he does not care, is not embarrassed, and continues his failed management why should any of us follow him and the team. It is impossible to separate the team from this incompetent and meddlesome narcissist. I just cannot. Still live this board, though.

Campbell is a camp body. Decent chance he doesn't make the team.
He wasn't signed to any real money. He played on the minimum last year.

WR depth chart is trash but so was this free agent class.
Resigning Turpin was smart.

There are a lot of older, big name WRs who have lost 2 steps still available. Kupp was hardly the only one. But if Dallas wants to real help it should look to Round 1 or 2 of this draft.

There has not been much to laugh about? Jethro makes me laugh. So does Stevie. And the hit parade of loser coaches since 1996 are laughable. Schottenheimer is next up. I predict that he will fall on his face. I hope I am wrong but all indicators point in the direction of a reprise of the great Red Clapper. What a waste of years watching that clown tell us there was a “Process”. He is the coach I disliked the most. What a complete ***.

Kupp likes the West Coast USA.

Let’s give Mingo a chance.

4.40 and built like Dez.

True that. But had he been available for less, he would have added veteran leadership and savvy to a team in need of that. He may have lost a step or two, but he is a terrific route runner and a baller. Amari Cooper may have been the best route runner we ever had. In his prime he made corners look silly especially around the goal line. I would not touch him now.
