I agree. Everyone around me was celebrating after that Miles TD and I didnt even move.

Both he and Flozell had a false start, but they only called it on Colombo.

They committed 8. We committed 11.

A few of those PI calls on us were pretty close and the no call on Roy in the end zone was pathetic.

This is true and it made me sick.

Off the top of my head, the only call that went against us that was debatable was the push off against Witten. Other than that, the penalties were legit.

I haven't looked at the penalty numbers, but I didn't get the impression that we were overly penalized tonight. Penalties happen. You're never going to string together penalty-free games.

I hate to complain too, but my boy Buehler had no touchbacks tonight, did he? Was that strategy or an off night? What do you guys think?

I think Buehler had an off nite. I mean if you can kick it into the endzone to force them to start from the 20 why wouldn't you do that? Buehler was just off. But I did see him in on a tackle though!

I think that was called on Colombo, technically, but the announcers spent the time talking about Flo's problems instead.

You know the team has penalty issues when committing 11 in a game is hardly noticeable.

Touche. Still not overly concerned -- other than the odd 12-men-on-the-field penalty. Philly had its fair share, too. It happens.

Yep. It just happens that after tonight it will probably just happen more to the Cowboys per game than 30 other NFL teams.

It's not an issue that we need to worry about until we lose, and then it will be a huge issue that will suddenly need to be addressed immediately. It would be nice if we could nip it in the bud before it got to that point.

Just like when we'll lose our defense will suck, Romo must be traded because he's a turnover machine, Austin is a four-trick pony, Roy blows, the offensive line is old and ... ?

Sure, I'd like to see us penalized less but my first-glance impression is that the penalties have decreased on average since that Kansas City game. Maybe I'm wrong, but I thought the collective average of the last three games seemed better than the first five. I guess they popped back up tonight, but what was the breakdown like on the penalties? How many were pre-snap or offensive holding? We had some defensive ones, but those are far more correctable.

I generally find the people who think everything is hunky dory when the team wins are usually the ones who think everything sucks when we lose. There's never any middle ground. That's why I think its hilarous when I get shouted down for bringing up that we're still ridiculously sloppy and undisciplined football team after a win, because most of these people who think everything is great tonight will go want to blow up the team in about a week.

I really don't know how a fan of their team could ever possibly justify or excuse being the 31st most penalized team in the NFL, but you seem to be tying yourself in knots trying.

Did I piss in your Cheerios tonight? I'm twisting myself in knots justifying this? I say that I'm not overly concerned -- that there seems to be some improvement over the last three weeks as a whole -- and I'm stumbling around with a glass of Kool Aid?

Good to know.

All I can say is wow. I didn't realize not throwing myself off a bridge after an 11-penalty game was taking a hunky-dory stance. I think my original post was something along the lines that I'm not overly concerned about it. Didn't mean to offend you, sir.

Hopefully my stances on other Cowboys related issues meets your seal of approval.

Since you keep editing the post, please allow me to continue to respond.

I don't believe I have a history of calling you out. Personally, I consider myself a middle-ground minded fan, though maybe I fail miserably in that pursuit. I think tonight's victory was a quality win, but also the sort of win we've seen in years past (as I said earlier in the week, winning road games in November has never been tough for the Phillips/Romo-led Cowboys). But I do like the way we're winning, even if we're doing it with -- as you've shown me -- a higher-than-desired number of penalties.

My concern all season has been with the offensive penalties (pre-snap and holding, to be specific) and the stupid defensive ones (12 men on the field, for instance). So there were a few tonight that obviously had me screaming. The Brooking holding penalty, though, for example didn't bother me. Plays like that happen. I thought the Witten call was a judgment call that could have gone either way, but fully expect Witten to use that same arm push next time around. I bet that call isn't made the majority of the time.

I agree our MO has been to be an undisciplined team. I was screaming the same thing earlier this season. My general impression has just been that since that Kansas City game -- which was atrocious when it came to penalties -- there has been gradual improvement in the unforced-error penalties.

Now, I'll agree -- you've shown me we had too many penalties tonight. I wouldn't have guessed 11. I was watching at a friend's house and never had a chance to look at stats. If I watched again maybe I'd have a different outlook, but I didn't necessarily think penalties inhibited us too greatly tonight. Again, I can be wrong. Feel free to sue me if so.

But penalties aside, I like the way we're winning games, generally speaking. We rely on gritty -- and suddenly reliable -- defensive efforts and an offense that is relatively speaking turnover free. To me the turnover aspect was a HUGE part of our undisciplined play earlier this season, and it's not showing up in as many doses.

Again, I never meant to or got the impression that I had a history of calling you out, or that I'm a rollercoaster type of fan. Certainly I'm angrier after losses and happier after wins, but I'm not ready to call it a season or order Super Bowl tickets this time of year.

That pass interference penalty on Witten was easily the worst call of the night.

That or the non-call just before the half when Samuels had William's arm held in the end zone. Pretty obvious pass interference against Samuels but no all. Cost us 4 points.

Is after we make a great play, I'm bracing myself cause I'm sure we've committed another penalty. Very undisciplined team.

I know, didnt Colombo have two in the red zone? At least the Eagles had just as many

i got the feeling it was windy cause one kick barely made it to the ten and on the eagles feildgoal it looked like he shanked it hard but all of the sudden it moved right in line with the goal. i watched it with my good buddy who is an eagles fan and he went aww crap when he kicked it then we were both like whoa.

on a side note the kickoff after the return that got called back buehler was pretty much the first one to help finish off the tackle and i started yelling and stuff and my buddys were like dude it wasnt that good a hit so i had to explain to them the greatness that is buehler
