seriously they won because of good pitching and good hitting.....you don't have to play as a team to hit the ball well and to pitch well...If you would have said a basketball team like the Spurs hornets or Celtics it would be more viable. However one person success in baseball doesn't always tend to lead to a loss just like their failure doesn't. Unless you are a pitcher.....
