Then you fail to realize how the Detroit Lions (previous decade perennial bottom-of-the-barrel losers) suddenly have such good talent and such a good team. Same goes for several other current very good teams. It's because they constantly drafted early in recent drafts, along with making a few trades and free agent signings.
I guarantee you the Lions never "tanked" under Dan Campbell.

If you suck, you suck...and the draft picks fall where they may. It doesn't mean you TRY to suck, or throw games. Everyone knows that.

Jimmy Johnson admitted he tanked on purpose during that 1989 season in order to draft #1 overall in each round for the 1990 Draft. Are you going to say he was wrong and didn't know what he was doing?

Pretty much destroys your way of thinking.

Eagles...

I got to watch the whole game which was a rarity in my area.

The cowboys IMO could have taken some momentum if they would have finished the game, but what was their defense doing in the last couple of drives of Washington?

Zimmer isn't the answer.

YES, I thought even at the half the cowboys could win this game.

That last touchdown pass by Washington someone should have fired by that on Dallas's side.

That last onside kick Dallas got? Yes, great we got a touchdown, but you NEVER run it back, it get down on the ground and run the clock out. GREAT we got a touchdown, but it opened the door up again.

I REALLY want to feel good about this win and not be a debbie downer, but the whole way the game played out and with Dallas's boneheaded mistakes, it doesn't.

End of the day, it feels like it was luck and not being the better team. Keep in mind, I do honestly believe Dallas was the better team for the whole game except for those last couple of drives by Washington.

Washington doesn't miss those two extra points, they probably win.

Yes, a win is a win, and it's great, but from the last half of the 4th quarter, I feel like the old cowboys came back.
Commanders were always on borrowed time. This was always the Eagles division to lose they had the best offseason…..have the best roster. Crappy coaches but good enough.

He did, did he? You'll have to provide an authoritative citation for that statement.

Jimmy Johnson absolutely hated losing, and the suggestion that he threw games to jockey for future draft position borders upon the defamatory.

At this point who cares, the Cowboys aren't winning any division title this year. Let's hope they string a few Ws together and pull a Tampa Bay trick when they got into the playoffs last season with a 9-8 record. After what I watched today, hell anything appears to be possible with this team.

Be in denial all you want, Jimmy did admit to it.

https://sportsnaut.com/jimmy-johnso...to-cowboys-1989-rebuild-completely-wrong/amp/

He also said it's even more important using such high draft picks to draft the right players.
Where did Jimmy admit to tanking in that ONE article?

The author stated Comparing Dolphins tanking (2019) to Cowboys rebuild.

Reading the article, I took it as Jimmy saying its more important to have the right players vs draft picks.

Things at the same time happened to the cowboys that only generally happens to expansion teams...

1 - Brand new ownership
2 - Brand new coach
3 - Everyone knew the old coach had to go at the time, but the way Jerry did it left a bad taste in everyone's mouth.

The cowboys went 3-13 in 1988 under Landry and were expected to go 2-14 in 1989 under Jimmy. Going 1-15 was within the odds in 1989 for what Jimmy had to work with.

At least with this win the thanksgiving game will be somewhat interesting. Even though the giants suck I want to see how this team plays at home with three days rest All the talk about tanking is ridiculous.

Giants should be one of the two victories left...So maybe Thanksgiving will be a good one football wise... "MAYBE"

Panthers are also pretty beatable. The Bengals game is a stretch, even though they aren't playing well.
