It was not really funny although I think it tried to be in spots.
Also although it does have humor in it, it seems they are also trying to make it a sci fi drama as well.

As PJ said above...more similar to Galaxy quest more than star trek.

I can't believe I forgot to watch it after fox has been shoving it down everyone's throats for months. Not a big fan of some of his projects, Ted was meh. 10 thousand ways to die in the west I turned off halfway through

Being a sci-fi show on FOX I expect it to get canceled after one season.

I think it's more of an homage to Galaxy Quest, which is similarly a comedy with serious undertones.

I think the ads for it have been pretty terrible. They want to appeal to the Family Guy crowd that knows Seth McFarlane well. The ads made the show look like Big Bang theory or something, really terrible.

I wish he had done this show on Netflix or something, probably would have had more support and more control.

Like any new show the first one has to set up the characters and relationships and such. It is 100% an homage to Star Trek...all of its versions. Isaac sounded so much like Data that I needed to see if Brent Spinner was doing the voice. Scott Grimes is a lot like Simon Pegg's version of Scottie. Smart *** doctor. Warf-like 2nd officer. Small Klingon-like security officer.
It is campy like the original. Seems to be developing more complex characters like Next Generation.

McFarland is Fox's cash cow it will run as long as Seth wants to do it.
