Did you watch Brady vs. Arizona? He is as close to rock bottom as he has ever been. He is not very mobile, his o-line has him making business decisions (because he is desperate to avoid hits and injury) and his deep ball looks creaky. This is absolutely the team Dallas wants to face first. Why? Because you know where Brady will be and you won't have to worry about RPOs...meaning you can bring more heat. Brady won't cough up the ball but that also means he is just checking it down and running a RAC offense. That will work as long as they can stay close but once they fall behind the show is over. Brady WILL devolve to throwing the ball 45 to 55 times...and against the ball-hawking cornerbacks/safeties in the Dallas secondary WILL end up tossing a few INTs...especially if the pass rush is getting home. The whole point this time of year is to not only make the playoffs, but to try and position yourself the best you can for the playoffs. Which is why everyone is battling for seeding. The easier the route to the Super Bowl the better the chance of getting there. Be honest who would you rather face in the first round of the playoffs Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady, or Sam Darnold? Some fans will say Carolina is the better team, therefore they would rather face the Packers or the Bucs. What ultimately gives you the best chance to win in the playoffs is facing the lesser QB because they influence the outcome of games more than any other position. This is why it’s mostly the QB that wins league MVPs and Super Bowl MVPs. Most games in the playoffs come down to the QB having to make a play.
I have a lot more confidence that we could stop Sam Darnold than stopping Aaron Rodgers or Tom Brady with a playoff game on the line. When you look at the defense the Cowboys have currently they’re not going to hold up in the playoffs against a future Hall of Fame QB. They may have a tough time holding up against Sam Darnold or any QB because we’ve given up over 650 passing yards and 5 TD passes the last two games but I like my chances a lot better against Darnold. We beat him the last time we faced him. If anyone is going to cough the ball up in a critical situation, the odds are a lot better it’s going to be Sam Darnold than Aaron Rodgers or Tom Brady. Those two QBs find ways to win games, and they’ve done it against the Cowboys more than once.
I don't think this team should fear either Green Bay or Tampa Bay in the playoffs. They are a better team than both right now.
