That is the reason the giants are holding the trophy. It really is that simple.

Pass rush and protecting the quarterback. I hope our front office was watching.

bingo, been saying for years, but everybody, including jerry wants the bright bling toy instead

We need DBS to cover there receivers so our rush can get to whoever is playing qb. Brady had all the time in the world on alot of plays today but when no one was open he went down

This game, and really the last ten or so years in general, has shown that fortune and lucky bounces play as big a role as talent and execution in who wins. About ten different significant 50/50 or worse plays went New York's way tonight, and if even one or two doesnt they lose. he same can be said of most title games in recent memory.

Kind of depressing actually.

again why this offseason in both FA and the draft needs to be spent on OL, DL, LB and CB only.

Gotta protect, gotta rush and gotta cover. It's that simple. You can have a group of rag tag WR's, undrafted RB's and converted TE's on offense and if the QB can make his reads he will move the offense.

A db or 2 wouldn't hurt, but after that...yes Pass Rush all day

FS Mike Griffin

CB- Carr

Draft? 1 CB rounds 1-3(just 1 in between those rounds) Then we should go after Pass Rush Specialists.

By front office do you mean Jerry??? Hopefully your suggestion is that he will not trade away this years draft for a bag of magic beans.

Nah, I'll swear on a bible that I never said this but ,The better team won.

So, can we finally bury the "run the ball and stop the run" theory?

Definitely.

I mean, at the skill positions on Offense, excluding QB, the Pats have Woodhead, Ellis-Green (or whatever his name is), C Johnson (wayyyy past his prime), Branch (average right now). It's basically Welker (possession wideout) and two TEs.

But they have a good OL and strong defensive front.

We have the skill positions on Offense. We HAVE to get better on the OL.

My prediction -> WR in the 1st round, Blocking TE in the 2nd round.

I'm still a firm believer the RB's as a group need to get 20-25 touches a game. Notice I said touches and not carries.........

Frankly, we can bury most theories. Teams are so even that it's about who gets the best bounces and makes the least mistakes.

You can be so-so in the secondary (San Francisco) as long as your pass rush is elite.

Outside of Carlos Rogers, that SF secondary is remarkably average. However, that pass rush was just downright dirty. That, and solid offensive line play, is how they ended up in the NFC Championship game despite not having super-talent in the secondary or at the skill positions.

Dashon Goldson went from being a consensus JAG on this board to somehow a rueage "we should have signed him" guy. How? Because the 49ers front seven is absolutely disgusting up front...just flat out nasty!

I want Mario Williams and David DeCastro. The rest will take care of itself.

Jerry Jones was watching. And he's on the phone with Leonard Davis' free agent right now.:laugh2:

That and having the ability to lob it up to Tim, John, Bob, Larry, Harry, Gary and Moe and they all come down with it. Just waiting for a 7th rounder or UDFA turn in to a Pro Bowl caliber player for the Giants, they don't have enough good WRs.

Well you better count on Giants winning a few more SBs soon, because apparently the football just LOVES Giant players. I have never seen so many bounces and fumbles go one teams way.

I agree I have never seen a luckier team win the SB

The NFL has changed. No more run, run, and run some more or stop the run. You need good WRs, good TEs, RBs that can catch the ball as well as run.

Gotta have interior line and pass rushers in free agency. Good CBs will help but I didn't notice any All Pro CBs in the game. Or Safety either. Anyone think Ross or Sterling or Akamurur whoever was in there for either teams is an good as Jenkins heck even Scandrick for that matter.

If Mario Williams is available sign him. If a good NT i.e. Hill or Soliai is available sign him. If Carl Nicks is available sign him. Resign Robinson. Then let the draft fall as it may. If by the Grace of God Calais Campbell is available send the frigging Cowboy plane for the guy and don't let him off it until he signs a contract.

We have one good pass rusher we need at least 3 to be competitive. Jerry has to be great in free agency this year or we can forget about any type of playoffs for a couple more years. Stephen needs to be creative in the contract negotiations.

Ratliff has to go to DE. Sign Williams at OLB, Soliai at NT probably Branch at SS and we become a much better team. Sign Nicks at LG and draft Konz at OC and we become a way better offense. Resign Robinson and coach up Holmes who from all indications is a H. Nicks type of player, then we can compete for the NFC title and the Super Bowl. Hard to believe 5/6/7 players would make that type of difference but they would.

By the way anyone want to bet that New England signs a top notch WR this year. They need a Manningham/Nicks type.
