The Patrick Peterson Scenarios

Please, Jerry had already made his mind up on Garrett. That game had no bearing on keeping him.

If you are going to trade up for Peterson to CLE at 6, you are going to overpay with a 2 on their chart unless the Browns agree to swap some places in other rounds. If he gets to SF at 7, you will give up your 3rd without the swapping later positions. To trade back, you better hope that Julio Jones is on the board because other than him, who are teams behind you going to trade up for? The wild card in this first round is Washington because they can go in a bunch of different directions. Teams have to view them as a group that will take any of the top players regardless of position. If you trade back their is a chance you will lose Tyron Smith. He had pre draft visits at MIN and DET but I think the Boys are prepared for that.

The meaningless bowl probably cost us the best player in the draft :(.

This may be true. It certainly cost us 3 spots in the draft.

That in itself has value wether it lead to us drafting Peterson, a better player than whom we get at 9 or more value in a trade down from 6 than we may have seen in a trade down from 9.

But that's not the point or at least the question I have for you.

What did you want the Cowboys to do week 17?
And think out the answer well.

Did you want Jerry to tell Garrett to lose?
Did you want Jerry to tell Garrett he'd prefer to lose?

If either of the first two had happened, how do you think Garrrett could or should've proceeded?

all of that is the reason Dallas should have played younger players, gaining them experience, allowing the coaches to evaluate and picking in a spot that would have given us Peterson or Dareus

How many games did you want to lose besides the Philly game?

If the Eagles or the Cowboys starters were in I would have rooted for them to win.

Arizona or Cincy would be so receptive to trading down to 6 in that scenario.

You also decrease likelihood of us trading up..plus, you increase the likelihood of someone trying to jump over us..teams would know w 100% certainty peterson would go to Dallas if he fell to 6 and would be putting in a stronger effort to leap us...

Geez we have the 9th pick how much more do we need to suck to make some of you happy???:laugh2:

If we would have played some of our younger guys, to see what we had at least for a game, or a half. Even if it was just to gain them some experience, and then if we lost so be it but at least we gave some young talent playing time and scouted our depth a little bit and still tried to win the game.

Carolina is suppossedly looking at Dareus (and AJ green , for that matter)pretty closely.

If Dareus goes #1, than Peterson almost certainly goes to Denver.

Then this talk of trading up and this lamenting about not losing more games can go away.

I wanted them to get a longer look at some of the young guys instead of trotting out guys like Colombo.

While we are at it we might as well lose the most games this year too so we can draft Andrew Luck. I mean that's best for the future right? Who cares if we win games? NFC east titles? Screw that!! NFC championships?? Get real!! It's only Supebowls We should care about and until we have the best Players from college, we should just lose all these stupid meaningless games and trophies.

It's obvious the best players from college win superbowls. It's obvious we don't have them. It's obvious it's more important to make sure you have the pick of the crop when the draft comes and that's what has gotten us 5 rings.

Tom Landry would have told his players to lose. Jimmy Johnson would have told his guys to make sure the Eagles win this last game!!

Ok seriously if our fan base starts deciding we should beat hated rivals vs getting a higher draft pick, then we should just move to DC and dress like pigs with dresses and wigs. That's about how the fan base over there thinks.

This team is not one player away, I question the wisdom of trading multiple picks for one guy.

One great player is better than three average joes.

so basically all this patrick peterson scenario talk turned into "we shoulda just lost the pointless game against Philli"..."that way we woulda drafted Patrick Peterson at 6".

 How silly folks

You guys all know (in the words of Herm Edwards):
You play to win the game.
