The Patriots were going to draft Jaylon in the 2nd

About time, I've been waiting for someone to finally post a Jaylon thread tonight.

Explains why they dealt 1 2nd rounder</p>&mdash; Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) <a href="

This actually makes me feel a tad better about the pick, still not thrilled, but my biggest problem with it was using the 2nd when I thought we coulda got him in the 4th, 5th or even 6th......but lo and behold the Pats would have taken him in the 2nd if we didnt.......Still probably could of moved back a few spots though.....oh well.....

I didn't see that. So I guess he would have gotten Jaylon and also picked up another pick in doing so.

I don't think you understand. NE had multiple 2nd round picks. They wanted to select Smith with one of those picks. Once Dallas took him at #34 NE didn't see the "value" in any of the remaining players so they traded the pick. NE would actually have moved up for Smith if he there in the late 40s but he was long gone by then.

Thank you for clarifying that.

Did NE draft Brissett in retaliation? Do they even need a developmental QB?
