The perfect night

how many mobile QBs do we face this season? Rodgers, RGIII, Bridgewater, Winston ? The entire defense (1st stringers - future cashiers) have a huge problem with mobile QB play

All defenses have a huge problem with mobile QBs. It adds an entire different dimension.

During the telecast, after Chancellor hit Elliott and got that penalty, they later showed Zeke waving his hand at someone as if telling them to come over to him. Was he waving at Chancellor? LOL. That would be awesome.
I do believe he was sending the "bring it on" signal to Chancellor and the rest of them. They've got a great D but Chancellor is the enforcer. Zeke basically picked out the toughest gang member and took him on. He proved he's a tough kid; now prove he's a durable one. Tough riding the bicycle to nowhere ain't nuthin'.

The big thing I saw out of Elliott was his ability to hit the outside zone so well. He was known for his pass protection in college, but he continued to show it here. One block he made took good recognition on his part and good ability to cross the field and pick up the blitzer. You don't see veterans making that block.

It was good to see Tyron get out there as well. Personally, I think Tyron and Zeke need another series or two in the next game.

I think this season comes down to our health on offense and our safety play. If those are working in our favor, this could be a really good team.

Does anyone know if Romo still wears his Kevlar vest? If not he might want to start again.

Those stretch run plays looked great. I'm a fan of that as opposed to the dive plays where the defense has an easier time of plugging everything up.

It can be tough to deal with,
fwiw, Winston and Bridgewater are not what I'd call "mobile" QBs....though they aren't total statues either.

Rodgers, of course, is very mobile, but he is much more cautious these days...for good reason.

Imagine how tired that Seattle defense would have been in the 4th quarter against Zeke and that line.

One might even say it would have been a bloodbath.

Also I thought he was talking to Sherman. Either way I love it. Team is sorely in need of some edge.

Wilcox simply has to go. Heath at least has an excuse for taking a bad angle on that one missed tackle against C.Micheal and that was he was coming off an injury. He's usually a very textbook tackler.

Claiborne looked good. He "gave up" that TD, but was an unbeatable throw. He even laid out and almost got a piece of the ball as a last ditch effort. If he stays healthy, I have a feeling he's going to make a few great plays a game

Yet he still can't catch a ball thrown right at him.

Definitely perfect.

It would have really sucked if our starting QB could have avoided yet another injury, if the defensive line could have gotten sustained pressure against a line that gave up a ton of sacks last year, and if our secondary could force a turnover. Dodged some serious bullets there. Thank goodness our #2 WR continued to show consistency in dropping contested balls, our kicker expanded his arsenal to include the shank, and Wilcox proved that he can make up for poor coverage by not tackling (Heath provides no drop off there too!).

Jason must be beaming from ear to ear. #it'saprocess

Bet that hurt.

Last night could not have gone any better. Seriously. Everybody needs to just calm down out there.

1. Romo took a shot and got up. If you have back issues (I do), that looked catastrophic. Getting twisted and bent over like that could hurt ANY quarterback, and Romo's initial reaction looked bad. But the back held up. He got up. Yes, he had some stiffness, which lots of players deal with regularly, but he was ready to go back in. (In fact, he looked mad because he wants to put this Dak love to rest for a couple of years.)

That left even more time for Dak to play against a first team that was ready to play. That was a very physical game both ways. Dak needs to get all the snaps he possibly can in case he's needed for a couple games this season. These snaps are invaluable for him.

I thought that was Dak's best performance given the competition and the extra juice of it being the rehearsal game.

2. Nobody important got seriously hurt. That was the number one objective of the night, and it looks like they came out clean aside from a mild back spasm for Romo.

3. Zeke Elliott looked phenomenal. He punked Cam Chancellor repeatedly, and I was up off the couch. He showed speed, power, vision, and some terrific pass protection. He is the real deal. It's obvious to the eyes.

The Cowboys now have 16 days until the Giants come to town. I think they're ready.
I 'liked' your post because the brutal reality is it is correct. I just hate to see Romo looking like that.....

A few Silver Linings but far from perfect......"besides the shooting, how was the play Mrs Lincoln?"

Yep. Chancellor was incensed.

Elliott ran him over twice, and drew a personal foul on him. He was taken out of his game by a rookie.

Loved that "welcome to the NFL moment" Zeke gave Kam.

Great summary -- nice to see observations from the glass half-full perspective. What I took away from this was the remarkable sight of our two rookies being absolutely unfazed by playing against one of the toughest teams in one of the most challenging venues in the NFL. I don't recall ever seeing anything like it, and the future is looking bright indeed.

Romo got hurt on the thrid play..the THIRD play, there should be a level of concern. The is no senario where the coaching staff wanted Romo to get hit and to be laying on the ground in pain, so no the night didn't go as planned. I'm glad he was ready to go back in, but what this tells me is that Dak will be taking snaps this year. The Days of Romo playing 16 game are done, hopefully he only misses minimal games, but, I expect Dak to see significant playing time this year.
