As I recall, those guys had a #2 receiver who was thought of highly enough to get a big money contract at the start of free agency. And guys like Kelvin Martin, and Kevin Williams that showed they were capable of filling a role.

Unlike Whitehead and Street.

T. Williams had more catches last year than Alvin Harper ever had in a season with the Cowboys.

Williams was a #2 WR most of his years with the Cowboys. Martin was a #2 some of his years.

Alvin Harper failed as a free agent signing by another team.

Personally, I think they're both the same caliber of player.

Williams was a #2 WR most of his years with the Cowboys.

He still is, even if they need him to be a #1. I think he's playing like #2.

Martin was a #2 some of his years.
I don't recall him being the #2 during the Super Bowl years but I admit I haven't looked it up.

Alvin Harper failed as a free agent signing by another team.

No doubt, he, like many Cowboys signed away as free agents, flopped. In fact, I can't think of too many that left and lived up to their paycheck (Ken Norton maybe?)
