The Playmaker

Not trying to hijack the thread but on a side note Michael was on Joe Bucks undeniable show. Most of it is well known but there was some other stuff that was great. Not a Buck fan but record the series just in case he has someone on the show I am interested in. Some great SB highlights mixed in to bring back memories. Man those days seem like a 100 hundred years ago sometimes.

Thanks for this. I will look for it.

tell'm play-maker.

that's why 88 has 3 Super Bowl Rings AND a Gold-Jacket.

Landry's last 1st Rd Pick was a all-time good'n.

Nice tidbit there at the end. That's an often forgotten fact.
The irony of it. "Plastic Man Drafts The Playmaker!"

Maybe Landry wasn't letting the game pass him by after all... hmmm.

never thought that personally.
with Troy,Herschel and Mike Irvin...I think Landry's triplets help him turn it around.

I like to think that as well. Landry was basically my "pastor" every Sunday and sometimes Monday night
for 3 hours. I thought he'd be there forever.
AMEN.
It was a gut punch I never saw coming.
I hate '89....it was the year from hell...personally and w/what happened to Coach.

Mike says TO made his own HOF gold jacket, but he won't show up to get the real one.

"It's something beyond my capabilities of understanding up here."
-pointing to his head.

Mike's the best.
I never thought I could think any lower of T.O. and more highly of Irvin then I do right now. I'm embarrassed T.O. wore the Star. That's just ridiculous.

Well, Mikey was never a genius but yeah, it is a head scratcher. TO will do his best to stay relevant, HOF snub is a perfect way to do it. Probably couldn't find a team who would sponsor/induct him.

A team doesn't have to sponsor or induct a player. TO could have chosen his next door neighbor to induct him if he wanted, and a player who is inducted is not done so as a member of a specific team.

Nevertheless, I agree that part of TOs motivation is probably to get attention. That always seems to be a big motivator for him.

Isn't their helmet and jersey in their show case at Canton? I've never been. I know Debartolo inducted Haley. I guess all teams played for are represented on their plaque. I assumed it was more like Cooperstown

I'm pretty sure that's just a baseball HOF thing where the cap on the bust shows a particular team. There is no helmet on the bust of players inducted into the pro football HOF, therefore no need to designate a team. As for the display for the player, I don't know. Maybe it has items from one team, or maybe it will have items from all the teams a player played for or maybe just ones in which he played a prominent role or played for a long time. In any case I'm pretty sure there is no official HOF designation of a player as being with one team over others the player may have played for

Even with baseball, whatever cap is worn on the bust is not subject to the approval of the team anyway, and actually isn't necessarily the choice of the player. It's the choice of the committee, although typically they will honor the request of the player.

Yep been to Cooperstown but not Canton. I read a bit more about the football HOF, you're right there are no uniforms displayed. A bust and a plaque and stats. Pretty cool place to visit I imagine
