Which teams are legit contenders and pretenders. The argument as to whether this number one offense is as good as their number one rating gets to play out one way or another. I only care about the defense performing at an at least average level after last year’s performance and the amount of resources tied to the unit in comparison to the offense.

From what I can tell, most of the back and forth from members is whether Dak is a terrible QB. I don’t typically see most of his critics arguing that he is terrible, but they do not view him as a top 10 QB and thus not part of the solution for offensive struggles against other top defenses. I can agree that he struggles heavily against those squads in comparison to how he/Cowboys can demolish opponents that are on the weaker spectrum.

I feel like as long as the Cowboy’s offense can score consistently throughout a game and average at least 25 points and don’t turn the ball over, then you would like their chances vs most squads.

He and the Cowboys are about to be presented the chance to write the ending of their narrative, so now we can sit back and watch them tell us who they really are. Can’t wait!

I don't see how we score consistently

Gotta figure out how to put methodical slow moving patient drives together again and again. That’s what kills the top teams. Efficient and boring but effective. And the occasional razzle dazzle.

If the running game is not working then short intermediate routes with some spread formation may need to make up for lack of prototypical running. Gotta hope they are way more effective on early downs vs the best teams.

The problem is this is something the offense has struggled mightily with for several weeks. They don’t like being methodical.

NOPE!!!! All it takes is one penalty, and our long drive starts to go backwards and it's time to kick a field goal

It could be worse. Egals win division & Garrett telling the media what a good season it was even though they missed the playoffs.

True but the defenses they will face will force the opposing offenses to be patient and will be ready for deep routes for the most part. They have to avoid penalties and also be methodical.

Hopefully, the legacy of any team we cheer for will be better than “it could be worse.” Picture a Cowboys T-shirt with the team logo on the front and that slogan on the back.

If the playoffs started after our first seven games I would’ve loved our chances. I loved everything I saw about the team then except for the chunk plays we give up. Other than that I thought we had a championship caliber team. What I thought of the team then is completely different than what I think now. Our chances are slim just to win a playoff game in my opinion. I see as many negatives with the team as I saw positives earlier in the season. The Denver game changed everything.

I am a big Dak fan and I've got to be honest, I think his major injury in 2020 effects him both physically and psychologically today.

I think that , before the injury, Dak played more confident, more loosely as if he didn't comprehend the possibility of major injury. Now, he seems more tentative, more effected by the pressure, less willing to run.

I might be wrong but I am being honest, that's what I see. When he does run it's as if he's doing it against his will.

Also, he seems far less elusive, it seems easier to grab him now.

Now, this could be that it really takes about a year and a half to recover from such a devastating injury. Dude had a compound fracture. Often, when a player comes back from that type of injury it takes more time for them to really be at 100%.

Perhaps Dak started out 80% this season and even dipped further with the nicks from this season. I think this could be a very reasonable explanation.

However, realizing this does nothing to change what is happening right now. This season's Dak isn't the same as in previous seasons.

You can say that about all the teams in the playoffs.

We are averaging more than anyone, but we have been struggling on/off for the last 7 weeks.

We have a chance if our D shows up in the playoffs, and if Zeurlien makes his kicks inside 45-50 yards.

The 1st seven games our D was mediocre. Now our O is playing mediocre.

I think we have a better chance winning in the playoffs with our D playing well and our O playing mediocre, though of course I like our chances much more, if the O starts playing up to the level of the D.

Stop man never going to happen with this QB.

Our D was better than mediocre the first half of the season. We were still getting a lot of turnovers. It’s improved over the course of the season but it still isn’t great. We need turnovers to win games.

I said before the season, that there was no way he could be back to what he was physically.
And that he would tire out as season went on, and he has. With a full off season, if he works at it, he can get back in shape for 2022 season.
Add to that defenses have figured out how to defend what dallas does, and kellen not wanting to or knowing how to use the run game hurts too.
Add to that, the blocking schemes for both run and pass, are flawed.
Arizona had a good def, and DC, so that helped them beat dallas, as their off is struggling too.

Very true, nothing was worse than being 500 and part of the "process" for 10 years. When it's all said and done this season has already exceeded any lofty expectations I had. I expected to win 5-7 games at the most. It's been a fun ride and I feel we're closer to '91 Cowboys than any other playoff runs. I feel this is the start of something good for us for a couple years.

Ironically these questions become more moot when the playoffs get closer. Simply because the only relevant answer will be given on the field very soon.

I do believe in "style points" over the regular season simply because teams are still trying to find their a game, play around with weaker opponents, getting in sync etc (if Dak CD could be like Burrow Higgins...) and all that.

But in the playoffs it's just about the win. No matter how close, how dirty or how lucky, if you advance you advance. And even the worst team could beat the best on a good day.

So I don't care about who's fookin who who right now. The Cowboys can only beat themselves. If Dak can connect with his guys once again, we won't have much to fear. If not Micah better saves the day. :D
